Hi Mark, lovely car matey and some serious cleaning done there! :y
I have a query about your engine bay though? The airbox to throttle body/camcover pipework appears to be that fitted to a 2.0ltr not a 2.2 unless i'm mistaken :-\

Cheers pal.

TBH, this being my first Meega I'm not too familiar with the set-ups (yet) but you're probably right.

I'm going to look further into this, and I appreciate you pointing it out, you've got me thinking now.

When I got the car diagnosed on Tech-2 (Autobox light/car-spanner light on) I got the MAF error code displaying. The Technician said the pipes with the jubilee clips fitted shouldn't be there and that someone along the way had modified/bodged it.

Looking at it, it seems he was correct, I thought when I got the new MAF I could do-away with the modified pipework and that the MAF would be longer, therefore not needing the added pipework but as you can see in the photos the new genuine 2.2 MAF is the same length as the old one i.e. short and still needing the extra pipework.  :-\

But I fitted the new MAF, went and got the error codes cleared/lights knocked out and it now runs perfectly.  :)

I wonder if there were a problem with the way it was running at some point and instead of replacing the MAF, the previous owner(s) had the whole lot replaced???

Started work on the Alloys last night, decided to DIY the refurb mainly for two reasons 1. Because I can, and am not shy of a little hard work (and this design is pretty easy and straight forward to do). And 2. Because I'm a tight-wad  ;)

Also decided to personalise the wheel with some subtle decals. Nothing too flash, just a little detailing on the face of the alloy.

I did this on my Carlton  Gsi wheels....

Think I'll do this on the Meega wheels (just a mock-up, but you get the idea)...

Figuring this will divide opinion, but what the hey  ;D

Thanks mate. Be nice to have an Elite or MV6, I'd have that wording on the wheel, had to settle for Omega instead.

Well, with the Christmas shopping completed, I had a little time to start refurbishing my Elite Alloys this weekend.

Flatted the old paint (and scratches) with my DA sander and 240 discs, used a grey Scotch pad to key the paint inbetween the spokes.

I then filled the scuffs around the rim with a fine filler/stopper.

Flatted the filler back to the alloy level.

Cleaned with panelwipe and ready for primer.

First layer of primer.

Top coat of silver applied, quite pleased with the result, just need to apply a few coats of lacquer, then polish up and get the tyres fitted.

Looking good pal  :y
I'm looking to get mine sorted in the new year but was considering leaving the tyres on. Just be watchful of the tyre fitter that they don't chip your fresh paint. Unless you're doing it yourself of course, because you'll take proper care.

Cheers mate.

Needed to replace the tyres on these two wheels but the other two are okay so I'll probably leave them on when I refurb the wheels.

The guys at the tyre centre I use are pretty good, but yeah, I will ask them to be especially careful when refitting the tyres  :y
