Yes, my beloved Omega has today passed the 80,000 mile point.

Bought in 2013 at 55,646 miles and costing to date £14,567.24 in purchase price and maintenance costs, I am more than happy!!

Just over £2,000 per year for a very comfortable, top of the range, even by today's standards, car that I can work on and know so much about, still looking good, is fine by me.

Better than buying a brand new car at the same level, with the same engine power, ( a Merc, Jaguar or BMW)and paying hundreds of pounds to a finance company every month!!

Its just 108,000 behind mine. From memory mine owes me a total of approx. £3,000.
Its probably worth about £300.

Mine's on just over 135,000 so into the 9th year of ownership now I've covered approx. 6,000mls in it. Including the £400 purchase price it stands me about £1100.Must say I've only held on to it for sentimental reasons.

Good for a few more years then Lizzie going by your average mileage , best way to drive in comfort and at reasonable costs .

does that include fuel, tax, MOT cost and insurance Lizzie    
it works out at about 60 pence per mile

My 81.500 miles CDX including purchase and maintenance and MOT is 20 pence per mile (27 months/6000 miles)
obviously I purchased mine cheap and it hasn't lost anything due to depreciation 
about £1500 in fuel    insurance and tax about another £1250
so about 66.6 pence per mile inclusive (27 months/6000 miles)

buy a cheap £20,000 new car and do 100,000 miles equates to 20 pence per mile (not including tax,mot,maintenance,fuel,insurance)

I paid £460 for mine, plus about another £800 or so in bits.

I make that about £1 a mile

Pretty cheap for a 20 year old S Class

It does include two cam belt changes and replacement of the a/c compressor along with the condenser. Thus the 58p per mile done to date, which for my now limited mileage is just fine for me

As for the “cheap” that does not concern me as I would not accept the level of new car £20k gets you.  I would want the latest E class Merc, or equivalent Jag, at least, so without having the cash to buy one outright it would be with finance. That would be far more expensive per mile than my Omega.
