Omega General Help / Fault ?

Engine warning light came on this morning , read the code and it says " Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Open "
What should i be looking at to fix ?

Ive got some scabby looking alloys in the shed and ive had a go at one of them to clean it up ... it will take me an absolute age to do  I rang a local powder coat company and they said they will each wheel for £35 but ill need to get them stripped first  So he said another local company does sand blasting .
Is sand blasting ok or would it be better to get them chemi dipped ??

Went out this morning to the hospital , parked up and while i was sitting in the car heard a loud bang coming from the rear  Engine was off , sounded like someone had thrown a piece of metal at the car  first thought was coil spring broke but car sits as it should with even gap on each wheel arch

Fast black one has been off the road for a couple of months with the battery taken off . Theres me thinking ill need to dig out the radio code but when the car started up the radio did a search and came on  No code needed . Is it Christine

Should there be any play on the front drive shafts  Im getting a slight grinding rotational noise when turning left on the front , checked for play in wheel bearing and no play in them at all and looks like new drive shafts have recently been fitted  Mazda 2.0 Premacy .

Looking at a 2.2dti estate so having never owned one and spotted a possible buy what do i need to look out for engine wise . Should it pull pretty strong , and anything to test while im there looking around it  Its done 150k but looks clean and presentable with just a few minor body scuffs
