Well I purchased my Omega on the 1st July 2013, so 6 years ago Monday, at 55,646 miles, now 77,000.

Including all costs to purchase and maintain her, with no expense spared, my outlay has now reached £17,009.16 after purchasing the Supertrol Anti Rust Fluid.

Yes, keeping her going from purchase has cost, but that is 6 years of motoring in a car I love, feel safe in, and does everything I want in comfort (climate control this morning was oh so good!! ) If I had bought a Merc, and I was tempted in 2013, how much would that have cost in depreciation and maintenance costs?

No, I am happy and that is all I want now!

I initially kept a note of what my Tata was costing me but soon stopped when depreciation and tyres was added to the equation.

Apart from the car my car dealership friend drives, plus about three others, that are newish but underpowered, none of them come anywhere close to my Omega for power and comfort.  Plus many of my neighbours do not have a car at all!

less than £150 per month
not including my labour

What I can see going for it is that there is no worry about maintenance and repair costs, with you just driving the car, with no disposal worries after the lease period runs out.

Which in anyone's book Dave must be considered cheap for running our cars

cheap motoring considering the payload i carry 
,the only thing that I'd moan about is the 25 MPG petrol cost
I used to get 33 ish MPG from my 20SE carlton ,which was pre emission standards 1990s
(the C20NE engine got dumped )

that said ,I'd much rather drive My car than some modern FWD 50 MPG Euro box

I doubt that I spent £5k on my plod one... Over 6 years/190k miles. And still sold it for what I paid for it

Don't have the paperwork to hand, but Ive spent over two grand getting mine how I want it. Most of that was in the first year.
The accepted wisdom would say its mad to spend thousands maintaining and upgrading a car with very little resale value, but a well sorted Omega is still a nice car to drive, even today. And how much  would a car cost now that has all or most of the characteristics of the Omega ?
To me, its cheap motoring.

Paid £1000 for mine around 5 years ago and went to town on it..new suspension/brakes/exhaust etc etc.

Dries like a dream and the 100k miles Ive covered have been a pleasure and now I only seem to pay std running costs.Trouble is with a 15 year old car when something big now needs doing you have a lot of soul searching justifying spending it again

No, as I consider that, like insurance and road tax to be expenses for any car.  The figure would probably scare me though and be in the tens of thousands!!

Mine covers about 3500 miles per year at approx. 24mpg. Cba to work out the cost tbh because if I was interested or bothered, I wouldn't drive a gas guzzler.

about £810 in petrol @ 1.20 L

not including sweets,snacks,chocolate, lotto tickets and crap we pick up at the petrol station 

I'd rather take the hit on low MPG than depreciation on a boring 50 MPG modern suv / estate big enough for all my crap

Keep every bill for our 3 vehicles never added them up the Hyundai Terracan has probably had the most money spent on it over the last 7 years the Scooby has cost peanuts over the last 2 years , the cheapest has been the Merc had it almost 4 years had 3 oil changes , two tyres & a new aerial rubber cone , and just to enhance the V8 burble custom built stainless steel exhaust system.😎
