I am told its the same issue as the Omega one and lots of other marques, not enough wetting current through the switch contacts so they all 'go' at the same time
.

Makes them a nice little earner for whoever produces them.

Part way through the rebuild of the brakes on the Tractor, new shoes being fitted (the old ones contain the 'A' word), full clean, weld up the wear points (it is over 60 years old!), adjust the rod linkage and some paint.

Re-assembly should occur on Sunday.

That's the last of the 'systems' re-built, its onto cosmetics next

On the pics you showed us last seemed like the cosmetics were very good indeed.  :y

Or are you a serial tractor renovator?

Visited Serek @ SOS and had the front brake pipes and flexi's replaced.

Hopefully all good for the MOT next month now.  :)

Not really, its JLR who make a massive profit on them.  If I were a cynic, I would suggest JLR buy in the shittiest locks they can from Brose due to the massive mark up JLR then charge their dealers for them.

Watched a programme last night about the history of the Range Rover & the host mentioned about Marina door locks being used on the early models , might have been better sticking with those.
At the moment everything is functioning correctly so fingers crossed it lasts a while.😎

Cut out a small piece of rust under header tank (so top of inner wing/ wheelarch) and ended up with a hole the size of a £2 coin.
Welded a patch over the hole and repainted the area.
Need to underseal the underneath of it, but that will have to wait for a drier day.

As Im posting pics in another thread, might as well show off my lack of welding skills on this one.
As Webby says " A grinder & paint, can make a welder what he aint".  :)

Run out of toys to play with (after the diff exploded on one of the RC cars), so thought I ought to fix the Jaaaagggg.

So replaced the 4th door lock motor.  Sorted out a working Sat Nag with 2020 maps, want to play more but that'll do for now, and might need the skillz and tools of that DTM fella to flash some firmwares.

Started looking at the Restricted Performance (aka, limp), DTC snapshot shows Bank 1 MAF is 3g/S and Bank 2 MAF is 150g/S.  Can't do live data on my digs interface :(, so relying on DTC snapshot.

Swapped MAFs over from side to side, but fault doesn't move with the MAF.  Not sure which MAF is misreading - 3g/S is around 15kg/hr which seems around  right to my mind for a single bank, 150g/s is around 500kg.hr which sounds very high to my mind.

Successfully ignored the Omega yet again! Took the 960 for a drive round and booked it in for the M.o.T. on 9th October.

Drove it and put petrol in it then drove it some more.

Might wash it on Wednesday...

Two things to remember.

1) Its a diesel, so no throttle valve, its guzzling air proportional to the rpm and will be much higher than you are used to on a petrol engine (which does have a throttle valve)

2) I was at Upper Hayford yesterday getting another new Velar, I could have popped the kit round had I known  ;D

TOPix does seem to imply there is a throttle valve in the throttle body.  Not sure why on a diesel, but it is French/American, so all bets are off ;D. Need to look further, but I'm convinced I'm missing some documents from workshop manual.

Checked inlets, I'm about 80% sure they are fine WRT the normal failure areas, but impossible to visually see those areas due to some insulation that cant be moved enough without the full strip down. Guessing I would hear it, even on idle?

Need to get some live data, which might mean some DTM magic, as my Mongoose lead doesn't allow live data in SDD.  I need 3 IAM modules firmware updated and reset as well, though thats definitely not any form of priority, as I do now have a completely working one with 2020 maps and 2014 Gracenote.

Can't find the air intake diagram. I know I've got it, as I've read it before.

When operating on primary turbo only, does any air flow through Bank 2 MAF?  As my snapshot data always show MAF2 at low airflow, 3g/s (about 15kg/hr), RPM normally around the 2000-2500rpm range, so borderline if the 2nd turbo is enabled.

Surely not much point in having Bank 2 sensors on a V6 if the only work at higher rpm :-\
