No need for the cheek
It wasn't cheek.

All the v6s are basically identical... but...

the 2.5/3.0 have alot more rubbish in the engine bay to work around, but they do have mechanical throttles, so possibly more responsive.

The 2.6/3.2 produce more power and torque, are easier to work on as the emission control is all electronic, however they have an electrically controlled throttle, which some find less responsive.

In practical terms the 2.5 won't pull the skin off a rice pudding, 99% of the Petrol Omegas currently for sale are autos... if you want to keep insurance costs to a mimimum and don't/can't/won't swap a C20Let into a four pot Omega, then you could do worse than buying a cheap 2.2dti and run it until the fuel pump goes bang... it has a turbo, which will entertain your car park mates, and it produces almost as much torque as the 3.2... the best bit is that they're all manual.

If you know your Cav/Calibra C25XEs then you'll have no issue working on even the last Y32SEs, all 'basically' the same, however, as you say the 2.5s (and 3.0s) are the 'simplest' of the Omega V6 choices.

Not as rugged as the old CIH straight sixes in the Carltons/Sennys, but decent enough, nonetheless. Also if you're fitting a manual the lighter flywheel is meant to let the engine spool up very quickly. It's a pretty free and fast-revving enging anyway, but which is somewhat slowed down for those of us with cobwebs on our left foot  :y

I might be half tempted to get rid of one of my Ex Plods, thats currently collecting dust, was in two minds whether to keep or sell anyway as dont just have time on my hands and probably need the parking space soon anyway.

Its a 3.0 Ex FL Police Manual Saloon with 3.9 LSD diff ratio (Manuals normally had 3.7), Metalic Blue, was originally fro Merseyside Force way.

Engine, Box and LSD wise is bang on, body work is tidy ish, for a YR2000, goes a bit quicker off the mark due to the 3.9 diff, can be a bit daunting at high Motorway speeds due to the higher Rev's for the 3.9 ratio.

If you want to send it sideways, you will need to sort out the suspension as the back end set up does'nt really like it when the LSD kicks in (Has Police Springs, so probably shocks worn), suspension is fine for every day driving, just being honest.

Currently SORN, MOT out, but shoudn't be a problem, my need Exhaust by now for the MOT, Cats are OK, what else, cant think.

PM me if interested.

Oh, and it has a Short Shift Manual stick in there as well.
