Title: F/S 2000 Omega 2.5 CD Estate
Post by: Kate on 23 August 2015, 21:22:52
It is with much regret that I am having to sell my Omega. She needs a few jobs doing but I just don't have the money at the moment. My daughter lives 88 miles away too so I'm going to have to get a small car or a diesel for a while. She has alloy wheels now

Good points:

Bad points:

I'm asking £450. I'll put some more recent photos on soon.

Are you sure that's a 2.5? It has a longer plenum, 2.5 never got this. Only 2.6/3.2 and 98 onwards 3.0's have it.

Good luck with the sale  :y

It looks like the engine has had some work at some stage, the plenum has even been painted,  Thus I think that a 2.6 plenum was slapped on a 2.5 engine.  That said I didn't check that hard..... :-X

Kate, I might be interested as I need a car for September while I sort out kitty :y

Sure, I am working from home this week so whenever is convenient, although thursday daytime is already booked up.

If we agree a sale I wont be able to actually buy it until my expenses come through but that should be this week, latest monday.  I hope that timeline meets with your needs  :y

Throttle body is irrelevant to the plenum ::) the only different parts, beyond the plenum, might be a different (ie longer) vac hose from TB to fuel rail, a longer throttle cable and possibly a different intake manifold ;)

That said 2.6/3.0/3.2 all share a common intake manifold...

Sounds like you might have a buyer anyways, so that's good :y

It's a 3.0 plenum. You can tell because it has EGR and ICV attached, both of which the 2.6/3.2 plenum don't accommodate :y

So judging by the fact that the engine has obviously had a lot of work how can you tell if it's a 2.5 and that a 3.0 has not been transplanted?

Not suggesting anything but considering it's a 3.0 plenum I want to be sure for insurance reasons :y

It might be running a 3.0 ecu, which could also be chipped, with a 2.5 block... but unlikely to be a 3.0 block running a 2.5 ecu as that would be counter productive ;)

If you look at the block near the starter motor where it meets the bellhousing, the engine size is stamped there on all v6's.  :y

A 3.0L running a 2.5 ecu runs fine, only weakness is the gearbox, but driven sensibly, will last. Been there and got t-shirt :)
