Condolences to the family of the officer, but, were the police conducting a "high speed" pursuit

It does say in the article that they were being pursued by officers,

I do not understand the mentality of someone who would run down another person least of all a police officer even if they were only trying to evade a stinger

In my younger days I was well known to some of the local traffic officers and paid my dues when I was caught doing wrong but as much as I did not want to get caught I would never have run down / driven at an officer, maybe it's an age thing? (I was a late seventies / eighties boy racer)

Sounds like a decent chap, I hope his wife and kids get the support they need at this terrible time

Rest In Peace  P.C. David Phillips

He was trying to use a stinger, he/she mounted central curb and drove straight at him.   :'(

Absolute scum. Sadly, if and when they are found, there'll be a million excuses and it will be let off lightly.

RIP, thoughts with his family and colleagues. Everyone who signs up, be they 7 stone of female or a me-sized rugby playing hard nut, knows the risk of violence is ever present - but using a vehicle is a whole different level.

That surely would be manslaughter minimum? I really do hope they catch those responsible.I wouldn't mind betting that someone else knows who the culprit is and should if they have any humanity come forward with the information, but I doubt they will.Condolences to family, friends and colleagues of the officer concerned.

I bet they treat them with kid gloves because the limp wristed human rights lawyer will be along to advise them to answer all questions with the stock reply ''no comment'' Personally I'd plug them into the mains supply and reward them with jolt of volt as a reward every time they said it....it's  a good thing that I'm such a gentle Liberal soul....no pain ,no gain  ::)

There may be something to be said from the days when I was growing up when people were arrested, taken to the cells and then began "helping police with their enquiries" ::)

A murder enquiry was launched so we can only hope they don't get off with a lesser charge, I expect his colleagues and the general public would like them to feel the whole force of the law.

In my opinion it would be better if they simply ceased to exist

Just heard two females aged 19 & 34 arrested , probably assisting them  probably can't see any bad in them , typical robbers dogs I suspect.

Can only hope that proper justice will be done.I never understand how lawbreakers immediately claim their human rights[and get them] when they've not given a hoot about the human rights of their victims. To me in such circumstances their human rights should be forfeit.
