Few days off
« on: 12 October 2016, 09:07:37 »

Using up the last of my holidays before the holiday year ends, use them or lose them policy

Got the Grand kids staying over, good job I'm an early riser :)

Grandson wants to go in Grandpa's car to nursery as Granny's car is too wee :)

Can we go to Greggs for a sausage roll on the way Grandpa?

Diet? what diet? :)

Most companies had similar policies long before WTD came in, as carrying over lots of leave is not a good thing for resource planning

Doesn't work though... And not carrying over (or paying) remaining hours whilst not allowing time to be booked due to availability issues is, imho, tantamount to theft >:(

There's not much which really grips my shit in the working world, but this and WTD are top of the list :-X

Back in the late 80's or very early 90's I once lost well over 3 weeks. I appealed it as I could prove I'd had over a dozen leave requests rejected, but lost.

So I genuinely do sympathise - I've been there. But I've seen the other side where small businesses end up taking someone else on because some little shit has saved up 3yrs leave, and wants 4 months off to travel

Yeah - here you can only accrue a max of 30 days (below that you can buy extra to take you to 30), so if you start with 30 you can carry over 0. If you have 25 you can carry over 5.

They even brought in a policy last year that leave had to be spread out over the year, because everyone saved it up and then 80% of the support staff wanted to take the month of December off to go home.. caused a bit of a resource issue, that!
