Sorry forgot how to do this. if somebody could sort picture,


What is the best way of filling this hole. Black stuff is the rust converter stuff.

Sorry pic not as good as i  hoped. It drivers side rear window,its where the rain runs down the window rubber then past the boot hinges and runs down behind the bumper and onto the floor. I noticed the other day it had bubbled so i went to scrape it off and treat it but it just fell through.it has clean metal underneath but not sure if i fill the hole will it block something underneath.

Far as I'm aware there's no hole there normally, so so long as you clean it back to bare, shiny steel (don't bother leaving it 'a bit pitted' just clean it to bare, shiny steel, and paint with a good sealing paint, and worry about the 'proper star silver' later. If you don't it'll come back, no two ways about it  :)

Not 100% but you might find you can access the other side from in the boot.  :y

Tap it into a concave shape
Cut a small piece of steel plate or tin to the approximate size.
Pop rivet it over the hole.
Fill with chemical metal mix and finish off with normal filler then spray the patch the body paint colour   :y

There's only one way to deal with a rust hole. Cut it back to good unrusted metal(which always makes a much bigger hole) and weld in new.


Using rust converter on sheet metal is a waste of time and money once the rust has got a good hold.

I can't think of anything that could apply to other than a hole in a car. :)
