I then discovered that Hyundai fitted a valve in the slave cylinder that slowly releases  :o
apparently they put this in because Americans are not familiar with the clutch bite concept  ::)
so the valve slowly releases  >:(

Interesting; my sister's 2002 Coupe has a very soft release on the clutch pedal which takes me a couple of starts to achieve a decent pull away ithout slipping it too much.
I imagine the valve in the slave cylinder is in quite a few Hyundai models
on the Elantra it was just a case of removing the line and yanking the valve out of the slave union with some long nose pliers then bleed the line
it's probably documented on the interweb
I wonder how many Hyundai get scrapped or have clutches replaced due to a crappy sticking valve that does no need to be there in the first place  ::)

When I first met Mrs Builder ,she had a Hyundai Elantra  :-X
I didn't really drive it ,other than test drives after brake or suspension work etc
It developed clutch clutch slip now and again
I replaced the clutch (twice because i thought i'd got something wrong  ;D  :-[  ::))

needless to say I took the old slave cylinder apart and found the valve, then modified the new one fitted to the car by removing the valve  ;D
maybe Hyundai are doing similar with newer models  :-\

No valve in this slave cylinder Dave  . . .its a CABLE clutch  ;)

I'm at a charity event today - Brakkers Beer Festival - with my bestie. His missus has had a couple of i10s, so I will ask them later if its normal.  Hopefully before I'm in a mucking fuddle when I'm doing my bit for charity.

Thanks TB . . .be interesting to hear their verdict . . . .hoping you asked the questions before you sampled too many brews though  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sadly, other events meant I never made it to the beer festival :(

But I did end up meeting with them yesterday evening.  It holds revs briefly, like most other modern cars, before dropping to about 1500rpm fairly quickly, then slowly dropping to idle.
