Much the same with the Tunnie Passat. Nice looking coupe let down by the Massey Ferguson engine. :)

Steady on! VAG cars aren't anything like that reliable. ;)

Oh,I'm not so sure,my Touareg has just clicked 160k and in the three years I've owned its only had servicing,no repairs

FWD, little it too stiff and road noise were my grumbles with my VW.

I'd consider a Pheaton, really cheap!

Terry the chip man borrowed one for a few months. Nice motor, but electrical gremlins are hard to sort (but less hassle than the beemer he's currently borrowed and fighting with the headlights :D).  That one was the LWB version and was just too bloody big :D.

I've seen a few and I like them. Cheap to buy but as TB says......they are huge.

Don't think they do an estate Phaeton do they? Isn't the Phaeton an Audi A8 by another name? There's a chap round the corner from me who has one of each and they look similar enough and are both much the same size.

Here's an idea...

Throw all £15k at your mortgage and keep the Zafira another year...

After a long search my daughter and son in law just got a good deal on the Skoda Octavia VRS Estate 4 × 4 Auto. You may be able to push for extra warranty.

Jury's well and truely out on what to go for.

Need
Decent size
Decent comfort
Decent performance
Decent economy
Decent reliability
Decent Age & Mileage

Searching £10-15K, but wanting to spend in the middle of that bracket
Define decent ::)

Buy an approved used Avensis from a main dealer and build a relationship with them and call it done :y

E Class would be my personal choice, top of your budget should reach a 3 year old 220.

Pretty much this , get yourselves down to Lindops and strike a deal for an Avensis!!

We had one as a rental from enterprise for a week or so ,it was diesel , but fully loaded with all sorts of toys and was actually very nice to drive ,fantastic on the motorway , very tourquey went like stink(it was a rental!!!), but yes quite impressive.

Not too worried about the mortgage currently.

Zafira, its approaching 150k now, and wants quite a bit spending on it both to get it as I want it, and to pass the next mot.  Think the time has come.

At 150K it owes you nowt. As you say, time to say goodbye. Don't overthink it, most modern cars will give you what you want.

OK, I will rephrase the question... Which is better? Owing £15,000 less on your home or owning a shiny car?
