Omega General Help / Re: Sticky throttle
« on: 29 April 2021, 09:08:37 »
Last night I remembered that fuel inside the gas tank was low and old - from december.
So I took a 10l gas can of fresh petrol and it's cured. Problem solved :y
Thanks for all your help.

Will post some pics at the end of May after I register it for this summer :D

TC gets triggered because I was driving on a gravel road. Engine does the same with TC on/off.

So....I managed to put my project 3.0 omega back together. I ditched SAI gublins, eml isn't on, everything works fine, idles perfectly. No obvious vacuum leak - tested with brake cleaner, breather system clean as a whistle.

Downsides: cranks a bit longer before start when cold
It has no insurance or number plate at the moment, that why I can't test it on the road
When I put it in 1st gear and try to drive off it stops pulling at around 1500 rpm, sits there for a second and then all the power suddenly comes back and wants to act like nothing has happened.
When I rev it up in neutral it revs fine. Problem appears only when under load.
I can't really tell what happens in second gear due to reasons stated above.

I forgot to add it's manual

I don't do welding so I can't tell you that. I just know that the welder said he never wanted to see me again after welding that tight unreachable spot.

New metal plate was welded where the rust was. I had the same problem on my 2.5 v6 but on the driver's side. Rust hole was small, but enough to leak under the insulation foam.

I did some trial and error with flocking bigger flat surfaces but got mixed results. However it is good solution for smaller uneven items like plastic part on pic

Well, she looks nice on the outside, this is the interior now

Rust work is done, interior is done, I have some new goods for her allready but they need to wait until the lockdown is over :(

I also bought four new summer tyres which will be fitted when bushings and wheel alignment is done.

Next part will be engine time, need to buy new radiator, battery, AC condenser while I'm there etc...to be continued

Cleaning the sticky rubber from doorcards with degreaser and cleaning wipes went really easy. They look brand new now

Plastic under door handles was flocked due to being scratched and I think it came out nice

I bought this manual 3.0 in September, for cheap knowing it will cost me reasonable amount of money to fix, but I plan to keep it as a summer time car anyway, so the work can be done slowly.
It's driveable, has MOT and more important - I was on a hunt for one of these for a long time.
So here she is

Right away the work started. As any Omega, this one had some rust problems. What I've learned in almost 10 years of Omega ownership is where to find the hidden rust.
If your Omega has foggy windows look for this in driver/passenger side footwell

And fixed with new metal welded in

Removing the carpets revealed another spot

Repaired, new plate welded in and protected
