Hi James,

Cool - PM coming in a minute.

Yes they are new :)

Actually I have a couple more sets if anyone interested.

Cheers
Ian

They don't say on them or the box, but a bit of googling suggests the

50188 is 100-105 and 115-120 degrees (2 poles)

50496 not sure but refers to OE 1341036, 90458540

I think they are standard from an Omega radiator.   That is what they were bought for.

Updated.  Open to offers on the rest :)

For sale from my 3.0 auto ('98) that has since gone to the scrappy in the sky :'(

1 radiator.  Had about 6 months/8k miles use.   This will probably fit a 2.5 auto as well as 3.0 (it has the auto transmission cooling ports), and maybe work for manuals as well - I am not certain.   I do know the 3.2 (and 2.6?) had different transmission coolant positioning so wouldnt work without some jiggery pokery.
£30 collection only

1 set wishbone poly bushes used.  Had about 10k miles use on my old w/b's before the balljoints failed and I then replaced the complete wishbones.
Sold

1 crank sensor used, GM genuine,  known good.
Sold

1 bag pipe unit.
£10 collection only

1 MAF sensor unit, original and known good.  £25 delivered

1 spare wheel and tyre, original unused £10 collection only

1 door lock solenoid.   I hesitate to offer this as I have no means to test it, but I believe it to be good.
Free on collection or £5 to cover postage

1 manual set £5 delivered

1 cranked tool for manually moving electric seats
£10 delivered

General Car Chat / Re: Mondeo Cambelt Change

I think that cars today 'go out of tune' far more slowly than cars of yesteryear.

Carbs have gone.......as have points which would wear and change the timing. I remember seeing the air filter from a Cortina 2000 GXL MK3.

The car was returning about 14 MPG and the filter which was as black as Obama's arse had never been changed. The points were black and pitted, and the plugs which were supposed to be changed each year/12000 miles were wet and black.

Couldn't get it to rev above 3500 RPM. ;D

I remember going with a mate to buy a Chevette.  ::) It was in reasonable condition but the engine was as rough as a bear's @rse and the owner clearly clueless. We took a punt on the fact that it just needed some TLC.

I drove it home and it was barely drivable.

\. ;D

The air filter had totally clogged with oil from the breathers, the points were barely opening at all  :D
A new set of filters, plugs, points, oil and coolant change, check the timing and adjust the mixture and it drove like it had just come out of the factory. :y

Not good.

The last car I owned with points was a 1982 Mark 1 Astra 1300.

There are whole generations of mechanics who have never had to slide a feeler in to see if it is a nice snug fit. ::) :D

Must have been the 1.2 pushrod, the 1.3 OHC had electronic ignition from day 1 (what a sad git I am)

that was the old Opel Kadett engine wasn't it  ???

My 1.3 Astra was OHC and had points.

+1

I have one Kate. Diesel estate.  Goes pretty well really.
Not as big as a mig estate if you need it for load lugging.

It was 'Y' reg estste and badged 1300S. I can still recall the number plate, TNT 85Y. :y

It was finished in a repulsive shade of orange. Deffo had points.

I had one of those.  W Reg finished in a lovely shade of grandad brown.

Actually I loved it but always hankered after a GTE.
Still have the Haynes book somewhere!

General Car Chat / Re: Breakdown Cover . . . again
« on: 05 April 2018, 14:24:26 »
I'm pretty sure its the person covered and not a particular car.

Just checked on their site and you are 100% correct. But you have to be the one driving at the time of breakdown.

I still can't find any info about the maximum age of the car covered.

Its the person and their spouse driving any car.

Ive called them out twice over five years or so.  No complaints.   Just ring their central number and they arrange a local agent to attend.  Both times took about an hour as I recall.   They even rang me periodiocally to give me an update on how long the wait would be which was a nice touch.   I'm not aware of vehicle age restrictions.   It does cover homestart but there is a premium for Euro cover.

Virtually unused. They were bought by the previous owner from Vauxhall immeditely prior to sale and I replaced them straightaway with rubber ones.  Theyve been in my store room ever since.   Dark graphite grey with 'OMEGA' text in silver on the two front mats.   They do look the business.

For the record they are from a 3.2 FL estate.

£25
Prefer collection if possible but can look into postage.

Cheers,
Ian
