Well - what a debate... I only posted to say a big THANKS!! to all on the forum.

For the record, if you have a heap (I would have had to spend spend spend on my miggy) then the deal takes care of 1 -2 yrs depreciation or the interest on a HP scheme - either if you haggle hard.

Having spoken to the dealers, they are not so hot on the scrappage scheme - "barely worth the time" according to skoda... They can't shift a whole heap of 1/2 year old cars to boot...

The cheaper the car, the better.

Anyway, I'll probably buy another mig too for the family so see y'all real soon!!

Possibly... Although it depends on what you buy. I looked into not scrapping and negotiating - the most I could get off mine was £700 without scrappage (most of the dealer contribution. I think the people who do lose most are those who own cars that are 2-3 years old that they want to move on.

You know what - It isn't your tax money. I only figured when I bought the car.

Govt. scrappage allowance? £1k

VAT on 12K car? £1500

The smartest tax ever - most people who use it would never buy a used car so the govt. is cashing in... In actual effect, everyone wins; punter, dealer, car company and the government..

So I am scrapping it ('98 2.5 CD), tempted by the lure of the scrappage deal!!!

To be fair my hand was forced by the need for a new back box/massive water leaks/new tyres and a problem with the suspension... Oh and the rust!! and two weeks left on the MOT!

I know this is probably the wrong forum but I really wanted to thank everyone who has given me help and advice to keep her on the road these past 3 years.

I'll miss her and I'll miss the amazing support I got from you guys.

Many many thanks!!!  :D

Wayne - relax. I have had my share of issues with my meggy and it is rarely as expensive as it can look. My oil pump went last year, the AA and my local mechanic for local people diagnosed Head Gasket. Opinion on here was oil pump. I was bricking it - I couldn't afford to replace the car at the time - but the boys were right. £225 to fix by a different mechanic (who incidentally said HGs VERY RARELY go on Omegas..)

Trust.

Omega General Help / Still searching..

Hey all, couldl you check this link out from autotrader. Dealer says full vaux sh and great condition but sh does not specifically say cambelt done. He is willing to knock cost of replcement cambelt off price.

a) How much will it cost?
b) Would it have been done in Vaux servicing?

additionally, is the car priced right??

Cool - will check that out..

Was the BOSE system standard on other models or just the elite?? Does that mean if I buy a CDX I'll end up with a bag of a sound system?
