General Discussion Area / Project TB2 - Update 15
« on: 09 October 2007, 19:47:25 »
Its been a while since a proper update (despite some massive threads ;D), so here goes...

Since the Update 14 thread, its had the engine swapped. Twice. The donor engine ran fine for a few hours, but that was it. So the original engine went back in a few weeks ago.  I had to stop using it, as the overpressuring damaged the top hose.

With some assistance, the head was swapped over the weekend, and this appears to have cured the overpressurising :D - I used for work today, no coolant loss.

Its been a hell of a saga, but it seems we (the forum) have cracked it at last :y

So I must say a sincere thank you to Jay_W, LFF64, Tunnie, Kevin Wood, Bo Bo, Sassanch, M_DTM, and in particular Omegatoy for your help in getting this far.  Also, thanks to everyone who has contributed in the forums :y

There are still a few issues to solve - now it runs too cold, so probably knackered stat. Need to check waterpump. The cap is knackered (all 5 ::)).

But these are minor niggles. I am wary of stating its completely resolved - as I thought it was a couple of months ago only to have my hopes dashed - but I am quietly confident :D. Confident enough, I've just sent Mrs TheBoy down the chippy in it ;D

This project has been a forum saga, and I know many of you have probably felt involved in the twists and turns, so I would say another massive result for OOF :y

Edit: I forgot the first gearbox change, so thanks also to Laidback and JamesV6CDX  :-[

As you can probably gather, I do not really know what I'm doing on this one, and out of my depth.  But as the weekend is looking fine, and it may be the last decent weekend left, perhaps I should attempt it...

General Discussion Area / People sent to piss me off this week
« on: 03 October 2007, 19:57:53 »
Dell. 3 times they promised a hardware swapout on Monday. So I stayed at home. Never turned up  >:(

O2. Stupid bloody woman, simply because I couldn't quote my last statement (despite answering about 5 other questions right, she wouldn't talk to me, or get a supervisor call me, or let me cancel.  I firmly suggested where she could stick my phone  >:(

As my collegue (who has witnessed my tantrums with various companies this week) said, you have to expect poor service, and if they do what you want, treat it as a bonus.

General Discussion Area / Webspace offer
« on: 03 October 2007, 19:28:18 »
Some of you may have noticed we have lifted some of the minimum post requirements to be able to take up our webspace and email offer.  Thankyou for your patience in this matter :)

Now, minimum status is Intermediate Member.

Additionally, due to the generousity of one of our hosting providers, we can offer a limited number of increased webspace accounts :y

General Discussion Area / Project Tractor engine swap
« on: 18 August 2007, 23:20:02 »
We attempted the engine swap today, started at about 10:30ish by time we got there.  Took a little longer than planned to remove, but was out by 1:30.  By time we got it to Brackley, and unloaded, it was about 2:30.

Quickly pulled out my old engine, changed a couple of bits over and removed loom from donor engine, started to put new engine in around 4ish.

Could we get the bastard to line up on the gearbox? Could we heck.  After 5 and a half hours, sucess, we got the engine bolts to gearbox.  What an absolute bastard  >:(

So, jobs left to do - everything really. Bolt on PAS, Bolt on oil cooler pipes, bolt on compressor, fit electric fans, consdensor, rad, hoses, airbox, turbo pipes, exhaust, a/c pipes, hbv, expansion bottle, loom, and plenty more.  Must removed to fit TC bolts as well!  Lots and lots still to do.

I had hoped to be not far off getting it to run today, but that bloody car is jinxed.  We were all wet and cold, and very tired by 10pm, after being on it all day.  Good job my neighbour is away, as there was plenty of bad language towards the end ::)

Still, decent progress has been made due to the perseverence of my fellow conspirators, to whom I owe a huge debt of gratitude:

So a massive thankyou to Omegatoy, Kevin Wood, LFF64, Bo Bo, and Tunnie, for your time, your effort, your skills, and your commradeship today.  Personally, despite the fact the rather car is possessed by some evil spirit, I had a very enjoyable day.  Bloody knackered now though.

Thank you :y

And, for once, I am not talking about the new Miss Tunnie...

Tunnie has managed to successfully change the oil cooler on his Elite project all by himself - I've been too busy with other stuff to assist.

Well done :y - I bet 15 months ago you would never have though you would be able to do that :D

Sorry, due to the issues here over last couple of days, I haven't read my PMs  :-[

Like everyone, my inbox only holds 50, and that filled up.  I have responded to all I know about (with the exception of your antics Mr Tunnicliffe), so if you haven't had a response, sorry, I've lost msg....

General Discussion Area / Speed issues tonight
« on: 16 September 2007, 22:31:39 »
Yes, aware of it.  Its most definately the server here.  Its most unhappy.  Its poor little CPU cannot keep up due to extra demands place on it a few days ago.

Fortunately, the new server arrived a couple of weeks ago, migration is not going to be an easy task, but work is ongoing, and should be implemented in a few days...
