General Car Chat / Thoughts on engine knock
« on: 12 March 2016, 17:05:40 »
Well since this is not an urgent matter rather thoughts exchange I think this is the right place.

Well my '94 saloon has developed an engine knock But there are some funny facts about it.
-it lasts for the past 3 and a half years since I bought it and it was present while I was considering buying it
- or 4000 miles (more than 5 000 km)
-it does not happen when the engine is below operating temp
- it does happen ONLY in between 2.500 and 3.000 revolutions
-I can rev it in red line and not a sound but when the revs rise past 2.500 rpm there is sort of very distant, very muffled metal to metal sound, like hammer to nail sound it sounds like it is not up here but down there, if you know what I mean
-other than that there is nothing wrong with it
-when I give it some quick slam on the gas pedal there is no knock. Only when I rev it slowly

So, what do you think?

General Discussion Area / United Kingdom and emotions
« on: 11 January 2015, 10:41:31 »
The year gone by was marked by an incredible event that happened in my life. I became a member of omega owners forum and as someone outside of United Kingdom, was warmly welcome(d) and accepted. The last thing that struck me was MrOmegaMan's presentation of his Omega including wonderful landscape and medieval fortresses in excellent condition.
So many openness, warmth, general order, heritage and classiness from you people I have decided to see in person. So the year 2015 is going to be a year I will do my best and come and visit the UK's finest.
My eventual arrival will have been made known on here.

Gratefulness is such an insufficient word but at the moment is all I have. Thank you.

Let's start a new topic on your very first approach to a significant other. What were your first words to her/him and how did he/she respond? I'll go first, it happened last week on a night out. Stunningly beautiful brunette, from afar looked like au pair.

Me: Hello
She: hi
Me: (long predatory stare) You look like you're from Italy
She: giggles. No, I am from Spain.
Me: There goes my chance for home made Italian pizza
She: laughing. I am sorry to disappoint you.
Me: I am thinking of how you can make it up to me.
She: coyly. What makes you think I will do such thing?
Me: The moist on your lips.
She: (Turning red). You are very naughty.

Omega General Help / fuel tank air vent
« on: 13 February 2014, 19:32:32 »
Hello people.

I have a simple question regarding air ventilation within a fuel tank in 1994, 4 pot, saloon omega.

I have noticed, after driving for a short time, while opening fuel filler cap, an excessive amount of vapour coming out of filler. I can also hear it, as well.

How can it be fixed? Any thoughts, please?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / airvent backlight
« on: 22 November 2013, 11:01:31 »
Greetings omega masters! How's life?

Have been wondering, under what condition does the backlight for the airvents work? I mean, is there some kind of relay that I don't know of? None of the backlights on any of the airvents work, left, twin middle and right, including backseat airvent and little yellow diode on the driver's door outside mirrors switch.
Did check all the tiny bulbs AND all the fuses under the steering wheel but none seems to be blown.

It really bothers me, I like things in working condition so please, any kind of help/hint is welcome.

Omega General Help / engine breathers, 4 pot, urgent
« on: 15 November 2013, 16:56:16 »
I need an opinion from the 4 cylinder masters, please.

Does the largest in diameter breather pipe, the one that's partially rubber hose and attaches to the metal pipe, have some kind of filter inside of it? Today, I tried to poke it (in order to see if it's blocked or not) with a really thin wire and couldn't get past couple of inches in depth?

I really need an answer on this, please!

Does anyone know what is the correct voltage for the X20XEV camshaft sensor? I am talking about voltage readings on the multiplug while the engine isn't running but the ignition key is in the 2nd position? I really need your help, please.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / InfraRed locking
« on: 05 July 2013, 22:52:45 »
Just need an opinion on Infrared Locking system on early model Omega's.

Have been saying to myself; ''No Joe, you can't get your infrared remote locking system fixed because the ignition switch/barrel on the steering column has been changed and now you start your car with another key rather than the original/factory one.''

Conclusion: 2 original factory keys are still here and serving to manually lock and unlock the car BUT am not able to programme IR central locking unit because I start the car with another key.

Am I wrong folks?

Omega General Help / IACV wiring
« on: 04 July 2013, 13:20:16 »
Hello everyone!

I need an opinion on multiplug for 2.0 16v IACV.
The car doesn't want to idle for more than a few seconds and immediately shuts off.  Of course, holding my foot on the accel. pedal keeps it alive but even if I keep my foot on the accel. pedal for couple of seconds revs start to drop significantly followed by rough misfire and engine shaking. If I restart the car, the same happens, it runs fine for 3 or 4 seconds and then shuts off.
I just checked voltage delivery on the multiplug for the IACV and readings on one of the pins were 12.6 Volts and on the other it read only 2 volts. Somehow I have a feeling that it is NOT correct voltage at least on the second pin which read 2 volts. Does anyone know what are the correct voltages on both pins for the IACV multiplug?  Please, I really need your help.

Omega General Help / temp gauge
« on: 20 February 2013, 16:52:39 »
Hello people!

I followed Andy's advice on checking a temperature gauge by earthing it to the chassis and it does go all the way to the hot, BUT, when the engine's running it stays there, it won't come down, i.e. start showing correct coolant temperature. Where to look for, any thoughts?
