Real bad grating from front of the engine
« on: 29 October 2006, 10:32:54 »

I have a really bad grating noise from the fornt of the engine (2.5L) it seems to be coming from the centre pulley area. Is this the crankshaft pulley? :(

Hi Hubcap and welcome. If the noise is coming from the large csntre pulley at the bottom front of the engine it is possibly your water pump on its way out. Whatever it is, as has already been said, dont run it without having it checked or a relatively small repair bill could become extremely large.

You could always drop the aux belt off and see if the noise goes away ;)

But don't drive like this, as no cooling at all!

Good as a test though.
