how many miles do you think omega 3.2 engine can do before it claps out even when very well maintained

My 3.2 Elite has 245k on the clock,runs perfectly and oil consumption is minimal.....and with a few minor upgrades it's still a great driving car :y

When I sold my ex Plod 3.2, it had almost 290k on it with the original engine, gearbox and diff :y

No different to most other modern(ish) engines really, it's all about good maintenance - ie. ignoring the manufacturers recommendations and doing a more mechanically sympathetic regime. It's only when you get into severe bore wear on any engine that your getting to re-bores and oversize pistons.

The bigger problem is chassis rail and rear arch rot which will likely kill the car before anything else does.

thanx very good to hear all that.ive got bit of rust to rear arches and same front of chassiscan you recommend anyone around solihull to do repair work before it goes too far?cheers

My 3.0 went well over 230k (cant remember how far over), still a great engine when scrapped due to the gearbox no longer tolerating the abuse I gave it - that poor box had had a hard life, and found lots of ways to empty itself of fluid.

God I miss that car. Best Omega I've ever driven.  And it was ragged everywhere.

That said, being a very, very early 98 model with the 97.5 engine, it did consume a HG every 100k or so ;D.  It had more HG than my old K series ;D

Serek in Huntington is nearer for you and is highly recommended by forum members. Think it's called SOS Automotive. Haven't used him myself.

My 3.2 MV6 is on 230K, needs a new exhaust and probably a battery. I probably should treat it with more respect. I'd been doing 350 to 400 miles a week until lockdown and 4 miles since April.

My 2.6 had almost 100,000 miles when I sold it bought it with 50,000 miles & never once did I have to top up the oil between changes, good maintenance & quality oils pays dividends.

My 3.2 is approaching 190,000 and drives superbly. As said, proper maintenance means they will go on and on.
