Omega General Help / Is my OBDII bozwonk.....
« on: 19 September 2018, 13:19:55 »
.....or am I doing something wrong? The eml light keeps coming on and going off at random intervals, and Cataclean didn't put it out. Luckily, the MOT tester didn't comment on it, but I would like to clear it. I tested with an OBD code reader and it declared that there were no codes found, despite my doing the Pedal Trick and finding Code 0430.
I was hoping that the code reader would clear any codes, but if it cannot even detect codes, is the feader 'dangle berries'ed or am I at fault?

.....this strange retail pricing stratagem. Our local Poundland has spades and forks marked as "£5, or 2 for £5".
The staff declared it crazy, too! ??? ??? ???

.....and no advisories! Sod's Law would have it that on tne pre-MOT warm-up run, the EML light came on. Roadside diagnostic said No Codes Found, so I'm puzzled, but the MOT man didn't comment on it, so happy days! :y :y :y 8) 8)

General Car Chat / It must be only TB.....
« on: 08 September 2018, 19:00:42 »
I've just complained to ECP about an incorrect air filter delivered last June (I know, I just didn't get round to fitting it!), thinking that they would ignore me as it was that long ago, and a lady cdalled Rebecca responded immediately, asking for details of purchase.
I sent the PayPal details, and she aploogised for the error, and promised a replacement as soon as possible.
I had a text message from DHL this morning saying that they will deliver on Monday!
Sorry TB, it must be you?   ;)

General Car Chat / servicingstop?
« on: 05 September 2018, 19:14:31 »
Anyone had experience of this company? My MOT is due and so is a full service, so I got a price quotation from them - free collection and delivery, too - https://www.servicingstop.co.uk/booking_service.html

Are they con-artists, about to lift my leg, or is this a good deal? If not, Serek here I come!

General Discussion Area / Bargain of the year?
« on: 19 August 2018, 15:02:34 »
If you like sparkling spring water - calorie, sugar and guilt free - Lidl are currently offering 2 litre bottles for 17 pence! Yep, seventeen pence.
At the tills, they had 500ml bottles of the same product for 21 pence: guess which one I chose?
No prizes awarded, and no insults, please.....

P.S. Diabetics like me can drink as much as we want with no problems.

I am unable to access my Hotmail email account, for no apparent reason. They said that somebody else has been trying to access my account, so I went through the identification procedure SEVERAL times and was repeatedly told that I had not provides sufficient information to confirm my identity. However, since most of the data needed to do so is in my contact list in my email account, this proved difficult!
I have now lost patience with the automated (and unhelpful) system.
Obviously, at the very least I will need to recover all of my contact and history information, but ideally I wish to have my account re-instated fully.
There seems to be no known way to contact a real person at Hotmail, only a robopt with standard, useless answers.
Can the mighty Forum help, please?

General Discussion Area / At last I have Windows 7 on a PC!
« on: 20 July 2018, 16:44:26 »
Now TB can stop moaning at me, I have left Windows XP behind (almost)!
I have been gifted an Acer AspireX1430 (any good?) and an HP V-M200 thingy with aerials coming out of it. Can I use this to set up an Internet connection wirelessly? The Sky router is downstairs and is connected by cable to this old PC, with the new Acer one in another room, It isn't practical at the moment to cable up the Acer, so Iwant to use it wirelessly. Can I do so with this kit, or do I need something else?
PLEASE keep it simple!  :-[

General Car Chat / Mini Moke on Wheeler Dealers.
« on: 18 July 2018, 21:57:04 »
I've just been watching an old episode of Wheeler Dealers, the one where they "rescued" q Mini Moke.
Apart from tolerating that very annoying mendacious turd, Brewer, it was quite amusin g, with all the carefully scripted ham acting!
My question is, does anyone know the location of the Moke for its (inadviseable) test run in sea water?

I had a splendid, relaxing Sunday outing today at the Rochford Car Show, in glorious sunshine and splendid company - Keith ABS and Chris Kent.
Ah, the beautiful cars to lust over - and a few women, too!
Thanks Gents - loved it.  :) :y 8)

Omega General Help / Cleaning the Omega.
« on: 22 June 2018, 22:26:49 »
I recently received a parcel of cleaning materials - body, wheels, glass, cockpit etc., from RCP that I never ordered, reportedly worth £20. Apparently, I won a competition that I never knew I had entered!
My question is, not having cleaned ANY car since the days of Stockinette, is that still a good material to use, or have we moved on?
Whilst I am at it, I might touch up some bumper scuffs, maybe a gentle rub down ot T-Cut, quick rattle-can dusting of primer then some Z-something silver topcoat.
Do I need to apply clear lacquer over it?
Can you tell that I'm no expert?  ???

Omega General Help / ECP discounts
« on: 22 June 2018, 12:17:46 »
I've just bought a carbon pollen filter and an air filter for 1/2 price (£12.49 in total, inc. delivery) using ECP's SUMMER70 discount code. Lots of other parts on discount, but not all on 50% off.
