Spanner light on but driveable.
« on: 29 June 2014, 16:55:26 »

Been using the wifes 2.2 today, she has told me that a couple of times this week when first started up the spanner light came on & car was in "limp mode" turned car off & re started all was fine, I have used it today same happened but spanner light is staying on & car drives normally, my thought is cam sensor my mechanic can read the codes tomorrow no problem there, anyone on here had anything similar ? If it is the sensor what should the code read ?

Rather than trying to guess the code, we need to read the code. Anything else is a guess, no matter how common cam sensor failures are

Hope that makes sense :)

Replace the cam sensor then, as you had the P0340

Yes I have every intention of replacing the cam sensor, the query is regarding reading number 2 code PO700 re transmission control module, sorry if I appear "thick" .

Cam sensor codes often throw random other codes, the transmission is probably get odd signals hence code.

Changing cam sensor will make that go away  ;)

Yes absolutely, I've heard much about car not even running with cheaper cam or crank sensors  :P

Shame no one local with a trade card could have helped save you a bit, that will sort it as said and don't worry r.e the transmission code that always do that with a cam sensor

Yes, would have been good to have saved a bit but will just be glad to have it running  right again !!
Spanner light is on all the time at the moment  , sometimes goes into limp mode when first started , but when the ignition is turned off & on again is ok  tending not too go far in it at the moment .
