It was a hypothetical idea, partly as a possible way to alter the relative wheel alignment.

It goes without saying that the original position was optimised for the car, so no reason to change it ;)

Yes I did use the horse shoe. Not sure what else I could have used.  :-\
Not sure I got the mixture quite right as it has set as hard as granite, which surprised me. I expected a bit of elasticity ?  :-\

Serek had a set of Poly diff mounts on one of his Omega's and said they are great but when driving for long periods at high (errr on an unrestricted Autobahn honest) speeds they cause vibration. The answer was to drill a couple of fine holes through the poly.

Can't say that I found this to be the case :-\

That said the rear had Pedders donuts in it and the feont was also poly bushed with HD top mounts and Plod springs all round.

Although not quite Mexican or German speeds, certainly keeping up with the pack ;)

And if we're being totally honest, a possible hint of NVH is infinitely better than an unsupported subframe...

She used the car to do the supermarket run at stupid o'clock this morning.  On her return, she said the car was complaining the rear door was always open.

So thats another door latch unit needed, grrr.

For the rears, I did buy pattern in the hope they would be better made than the utter shite JLR provide, but only lasted 4 months.  Bought from the Gay of E, and the seller aint interested in doing anything.

Will nip to dealer in morning, but the only 2 dealers with the part in stock near me will only give me trade (15%) :(

Making a car to stiff, by using either polys or rose joints, causes a lot of stress, on welded joints, this causes the shell to crack (Motorsport shells) or to separate at weak points (roadcar shells).

indeed, that’s why most cars which use that type of bushing etc are mostly rally type cars which are seam welded and strategically strengthened.

That explains why VAG cars all split across the rear floor pan if you crash them wrong... Too stiff suspension and stupid tyre profiles :D

Well, the whole exercise has turned out to be a complete waste of quite a lot of time and £16 worth of Polyurethane.
Just as I was bolting the mount back on to the car the centre metal part which bolts to the diff, separated itself from the Polyurethane.  ::) >:( :'( :'(

Anyone got an old Omega diff mount in half decent condition please ?
I think I will post a wanted ad for one. Im seriously fed up with fannying around with it, and having the car off the road because of it.  :(

Considering that 2 pack polyurethane will stick to just about anything, I wonder how you managed that?

And like all 2 pack materials, it needs to be mixed accurately and cured at a suitable temperature.

Finally, I prepare both parts of the mount by removing all of the original rubber by cutting off the worst with a hacksaw, sharp scraper and wire brush in an angle grinder. Final finish is 40 grit emery cloth just to ensure a clean, rough surface for a good mechanical bond.

Did all of the above, but Im sure I got the mix wrong. In hindsight I should have weighed half the contents of each bottle into two separate containers and then tipped one into the other.
I tipped half of one bottle into a container, placed it on the scales, then tipped enough of the second one in to double the figure.
Thought I had taken into account the 10g weight of the container, but obviously went wrong somewhere.
I knew I had to act quickly once I started mixing so I think I got a bit panicky, and no doubt breaked up in the process.
Lesson learnt.  ::)

Apart from that problem, the diff mounts arent lining up with the holes now. I have one side jacked up and on an axle stand which may have caused things to move ?
If I lower it down so both sides are at the same height, it might line up again ?  :-\

Changed the OSR door latch due to the open/close switch failing.
