I don't want to assume, but would anyone mind if I came along? I haven't been to an OOF meet in years!

Just seen this James . . .  cannot believe you have not had an answer yet :o

As far as I know all Oofers are welcome  . . .  :y :y

Sure you would enjoy this . . .but more of a social event  (nosh & drinks etc.) than spanners meet . But always a good night . Some of us stay over so we can have a slurp !

Serek & Big Griff  organise this . . . guess we are just waiting for an agreed date ;) ;)

I guess it's an open invitation as usual.....Omega or otherwise,I was with Serek last week and he's keen to get this done, but looking at the response,he can't book a table/tables until people commit to making a decision about their availability. Also it's about food preferences and being the run up to Christmas a fairly early booking may be an advantage. So as far as Serek,BG,Al and myself are concerned we're in :y So that would be a big yes to James and anyone else who fancies a night out, just need to know if you are interested and can you post up or let Serek know your availability

It could well be a self-confidence thing for me, but for a long time I've not really felt like anyone would be best pleased if I put my name down for a meet.

Thanks to the couple of folk that have replied, but I think in order to avoid any awkwardness, it may be for the best that I don't go along
Title: Re: Christmas party in hoofland

Apologies Nick for not mentioning you as I know you can be relied on to come along, and possibly Mark may come also depending on his work commitments :-\

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be welcome James, you probably know most people anyway, also you've had a crap few months and once you've had a drop of 120 proof rocket fuel, you'll be nice and relaxed.....no pain killers that night, for sure, but possibly in the morning :D ;)

If you're sure, then I reckon I will enjoy it. As I say, I accept that it may just be me, because I've felt proper shit lately.

There are only a couple of nights I can't do, eg Work Christmas meal . I will keep an eye on this thread, and once a date is decided, I will confirm it for sure :y :y

Then you will love spiceland, but they don't serve alcohol so you take your own,we just load the cold box up with 'supplies' which helps things go along nicely :y

Oh yeah, you can't beat a "bring your own" :y :y

They often do the best foods and are reasonable on price, too.

Well if I can make the date work, I will look forward to it :y

Yes totally agree . . . good curry night again, washed down with a few drinks as usual  with good company  :y :y

Love listening to Nick W's stories  . . last nights classic was the Ford engine that fell out the back of an estate while transporting  ;D ;D ;D

Looking forward to next one  . . . maybe we could try the other place Serek was talking about last night , that does Chinese as well as other international  cuisines  including Indian of course  :-\ :-\

With a varied  international menu maybe we could temp a few more Oofers ;) ;)

The following day I was the driver for a works party. I drove the same borrowed estate with a sudden huge lack of power home from Gatwick with four passengers. It was late, we were all on early shifts the next day, and I decided that if I knew what the problem was we'd have to wait hours for the AA. It turned out when I looked at it the following evening that two of the plugs leads had fallen off on a speed bump. A fully loaded 800cc Cortina estate struggles to do 60mph, and does about 8mpg ;D

Hoofland curry nights are well worth the 200mile round trip
