Parking sensors not working...
« on: 08 May 2013, 01:30:45 »

Few electrical faults with the Elite, I've only just noticed that the 3.2 has factory fit parking sensors but their not bleeping at all could be many things I suppose, fuse, lose or broken wire, beep speeker faulty etc... Any idea what it could be and if its possible to be a fuse which fuse would it be.. Not really fussed about them but I like things to work (who doesn't  ;D)...

And I'm sure it has automatic sensing wipers as there's no variable speed scrolling wheel.. How could I test if it has them is there a activation switch or something and I presume a hosepipe would activate them.. and it's possible if it had a windscreen replacement not the proper type was fitted, ah well i'll play around with things tomorrow.. It's a 2002 on a "51"..

Not an electrical fault but the ashtray is one of those type that doesn't close properly. Just annoying that is.. Shame the 2.2s is perfect.

Funnily enough the electric rear blind works have read many times on OOF these can be a pain..

Thanks
 :)

ashtray may be the clip at rear of it that locks in place, tiny piece of plastic that likes to snap in the shape of a hook, mine went lots of super glue and repaired, to find i had a spare in loft but with 2 omegas im bound to need it sooner or later

Parking sensors .. if no noise its power, speaker or control box, as the self test circuit will give a series of beeps if it detects something else wrong, like a sensor failure.

02 year like mine has no rain sensitive wipers, or variable control. Only standard on off or set intermittent! Bit crap really.

Can fit a VW "learning" fuse that learns time you set on interminant, but it's no way near as good as standard adjustable setting on lower models.

Vx really messed up I think on this  :(

extremely easy to use as well .. wouldn't be without it now ...  :)

flick up for a single sweep, then when the screen just starts to get too wet, up to the intermittent position and leave .. you've just set the time interval, they will keep going at the time between the single sweep and the intermittent selection.

If the rain increases/decreases ... go to off. Repeat the above ... easy peasy .. :)

VW99 is a PITA.

I think the rain sensing wipers are a PITA as well, just not as much as a pain as VW99.

Possible to retrofit the "proper" earlier type.

I think the rain sensing wipers are a PITA as well,  ......

I've never used auto wipers in Vauxhal of any kind, however I've got quite used to them in my Merc ........ they can be 'temperamental' though - either 2x speed when not needed or slow to wipe when the screen really does need wiping.

Too anxious on the Omega. And on most other cars I've tried TBH.

In the case of the Omega, it means you have to use those gay aero style wipers to do away with the noise on a dry-ish screen, which leads to a dirty windscreen.

Did I mention I think they are a PITA.
