The one section of my commute where I occasionally don't end up following some dull VW driver at 45 MPH, so I can have a play, has got average speed cameras going up. >:(

Good job I'm a reformed character, really. ::)

I was going to say, I've got a great cordless mower. Pour petrol in and off it goes. No cords required. :y

Fitted some new rear disks and pads to the XE. I got my money's worth out of the previous ones. :-X
How were the calibers?

No problems with them. I suspect one of them might have been a bit sticky because one pad had worn a little more than the rest, but cleaned and lubed the pins and it went back together OK.

Got it into service mode using the pedal trick and it left the calipers alone for the whole afternoon while I was dodging the showers.

Omega General Help / Re: Omega X30XE emissions problem
« on: 01 May 2023, 22:06:12 »
For a CO reading that high it's running very rich or misfiring. I very much doubt it'd be a temperature sensor issue (and the live data shows plausible values).

The odd thing is that the lambda sensors are both cycling, which means it should be OK mixture wise.

As said, the air flow looks a little low, but not much, and I'd say the injector times are a bit high considering, so I'd say it might actually be running rich.

EDIT: What was the HC reading on the emissions test. Is that high too?

Cackling women in the pub! FFS! And recently cackling men!! Whats that all about?? Jeez, I must be getting too old for this pub lark! Must be an age thing STEMO? Cheers >:( ;D  ;D

It's the "alpha male" who seems to think the whole pub needs to know about his remarkably dull life, and adjusts the volume of his voice accordingly, who really gets to me. Every pub's got one. >:(

All bilge. Whenver I sit down in front of the TV I just binge watch something on a streaming service.

Did the whole of "Big bang theory". Currently going through NCIS. ;D

One small mercy is that, as of tomorrow, I'll have completely weaned Mrs. KW off paying for uncle Rupert's sh1te.

.. and right on cue, the XE's rear pads started making a grinding noise today. Outside pads have reasonable meat on them so a stuck caliper or rusty back of the disk, I suspect.

The sauce doesn't taste right... Like it's been watered down.  :-\

Yes, nail on the head. It was like someone got a tin of bortlotti beans and tipped in the watery juice from a tin of tomatoes.

The texture was nasty too. All mushy with no bite to them at all. Tried all manner of seasoning and adding a bit of butter. No helping them in the end. :(

What a PITA!

Yeah, there's a bit of a knack to getting it into service mode but you do get a warning on the dash when successful.

The way KFC gravy is made is stomach churning interesting.
I always take the Beanz option at the KFC....

we do actually make for KFC  :y
It'll be them wots giving Jaime the shits  ;D
Its definitely the secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices ;D

Oh, don't get me started on Beanz. I accidentally picked up a tin of "no added sugar" Beanz to put on my toast last night. >:(

General Car Chat / Re: Self driving cars
« on: 04 April 2023, 21:08:32 »
Self driving a modern car isn't particularly difficult.

Self driving it on the roads, with everything else that goes on is extremely difficult. It would be much easier if every car was self driving and linked. Removing other road users like pedestrians etc would be another improvement. But trains do all of that and already exist and work well.

.. and they haven't stopped them needing drivers. Or found drivers that don't go on strike. ;D

but use the Chunnel 3 or 4 times a year. On a good day you sail straight through and can be on a train in 20 minutes. On a busy day it can be a 4-5 hour wait.
I refuse to use that service now, after they arbitrarily decided my ticket was invalid, and I had to pay an additional 300 euros to get back.  Letters of complaint went unanswered.

Mind you, I tend to use more convenient ferries than Dover/Calais, as both towns are overcrowded, grim, utter shitholes.

Yep, me too. Cancelled my outward journey at zero notice, then wouldn't accept the return ticket because I hadn't used the outward part.

Did get a voucher off them in the end. I took great pleasure in informing them of my preference with regard to where it should be inserted. >:(

I think the ferry ports are like our railways, though. The only acceptable system is a Victorian one. ::)
