VBOA meet at Billing Aquadrome/ just outside Northampton weekend camping Sat/sunday 7/8th July 2007, good weekend, good venue, beers etc., I have been going for the past two years, the pics of the car are at Billing, just been going on my own though, and there is never really a lot of omegas there compared to the other VX's.

You would'nt necessarily need a stand just book up a section of one of the fields, if enough Forum members confirm turning up, block booking for an Area on one of the fileds, would certainly turn heads, potentially you would need to book that up by at least Marc/April at latest I think.

The VBOA is a cracking show and one i go to every year as it combines the best of all the car clubs, however....
You can't book a stand and just turn up >:( the forum would have to turn into a club and then be invited into the VBOA, and they are very strict, they don't like more that one club representing a particular vehicle.
A few years ago another club i am involved with went through the process of becoming affiliated to the VBOA, they are very strict indeed.
That said there is nothing to stop a group of like minded enthusiasts meeting up for a weekend in a camping site that is just by coincedence having the largest Vauxhall/Opel gathering of the year that very same weekend ;)
You would be away from the main arena though.

Yeah, we'd end up in the swan fields, next to the take away, tends to get a bit busy there though.

Just omegas, would be a rare site, but not on any main club stands would be in swan fields, woud be good to get a load of meegas lined up on the exit road through swan fields :y

Have been the past three years with the VSCC, allways a good day out.
Would certainly join you if enough went. You do get a few omega's on
the autobarnstormers stand, seems to be more each year, even had a
couple of police omega's last year.

OK folks at long last I did contact evenets at Billing today only to be told that could'nt book a section of one of the swan fields (we have to speak to VBOA). So that plan is down the sump. Anyway, given this and the fact that it does get busy over that weekend anyone interested in going I would recommend booking up by May at the latest. I will be booking up for a friday night arrival, as come saturday u end up milling around to get a spot, was £15 a night last year. If enough folk are interested and some folk can arrive on the Friday then would recommend we get an idea of who can make it on Friday (subject to wanting to attend) we then hijack enough space on the Friday for any potential OOF folk turning up on saturday e.g., in between the pitches.
Otherwise just play it by ear and we can all just sod the VBOA book into the Crown at Brackley and get pissed at Jaimes ;D ;D :y

8-)Any more news? If enough of us trundle our big old tanks down they might take a bit of notice in future. All i need is room for my mig & small tent next to it. Why are they being so strict, do'nt they like migs, & are they aware of the forum? As we all know big cars lose value fast therefore many do'nt survive but a good mk1 granada will fetch more than a jag now. Bmw merc lexus all ok but vx are the last to make agood solid rwd luxury/performance motor, no other mainstream manufacturer does anymore & they've stopped now. Sorry to bang on but it's time we got some recognition & support from these so called event organizers. Ok i think that chip's finally fallen off my shoulder, fingers crossed!!! >:(

Not too sure how many forum members will turn up, sure there will be a few, but I would recommend that if you are going to go to book in advance if camping, as if you leave it till the last minute they may just tell you to turn up and take a chance. The link is on one of the previous posts on this thread.

Sounds good to me, think a few potential have now bailed out. However, I will be there in one of the swan fields either friday for the weekend to Sunday/monday latest. i'll try and keep you a pitch for next to me, eg give myself a big parking space. PM me your mobile number and i'll do vice versa and we'll catch up on the day :y

its officiall its on vboa inspected today and have decided its a go but you may end up camping else where rather than swans field (this is normally the part non vboa camping is put on the weekend) as they are moving trade stands and some smaller vboa clubs to there for the weekend.

not me - my chances of getting past Silverstone are non-existent. For anyone else coming from M40 direction, please be aware that the A43 will be closed at the weekend due to British GP.
Shame on VBOA for planning the same weekend so close to a major event like GP >:(

Well gave them a call and just get the answer machine so not sure what to do now, unless I can be a guest member of MIG ::)

Theres only a handful of folks going a couple with clubs and a couple camping, given that the swan fields may be taken up by clubs this year not sure where the camping will be on the site, hopefully find out by tomorrow.

.... well, apparently the current info from Billing Aquadrome is that due to the fact there has been heavy rain, most of the fields are flooded / very wet, this has reduced the amount of people that can camp, so they are restricting it to VBOA members (and their guests, travelling and staying with them) only.
You can still go into the show & look around, but there is NO CAMPING for NON vboa members.

The response from VBOA following yesterdays visit to Billing;
The event WILL be taking place, This is a copy of an Email recieved earlier today from Ian Coomer, Chairman of the VBOA :-
"John Ankerman and I carried out an inspection of the Billing site this morning. As a result I can confirm that the show WILL GO AHEAD. However, certain of the fields we normally use are waterlogged and therefore John will be relocating some clubs onto fields in parts of the site which have not been used for shows over the last month and are therefore not cut up. Detailed changes have yet to be drawn up but the following information may be of help:
The arena field and the one north of it are mostly unusable. Therefore all Sunday arena activities are cancelled, ie the arena parades, the Chairmans Cup and the Special display of Luton built cars. John will relocate displaced clubs in Swans Fields over the bridge by Vinnies and on the large display field just left of the exit road, where the show was held many years ago. Billing management are putting gravel and sand on key field entrance points or creating new access routes by removing fences. We will not be installing the PA system.
The autojumble will be moved in its entirety to a very large tarmac area next to the display field. This is currently used for mobile home display and these are being removed to give us a large clear area of hard standing.
Clubs are asked to cooperate fully with John in achieving this major rethink. Given the recent weather conditions, all fields are wet and it will be a case of pitching tents sensibly and choosing firm areas for parking. Also, some of the relocated clubs will be further from the shower blocks than normal.
However, with a bit of goodwill all round we can definitely have a successful show, albeit not as planned!
PLEASE DO NOT PHONE JOHN ABOUT YOUR PARTICULAR CLUB LOCATION UNLESS IT IS VERY URGENT, as firstly he probably can’t tell you much until he has had look at a plan of the site and secondly he won’t be able to get it done for phone calls.
We will me marking out the site as usual tomorrow and the working plan at the moment is that a new site layout plan will posted at the gate from Friday.
Please put this message out to as many people as possible. Billing 25 is definitely on!
If you get this message more than once it’s because we are using all available databases. Better three times than not at all.

Like its says I am afraid unless you are member of one of the VBOA affiliated clubs, however, looks like I will be going under ABS (autobahnstormers). I will give you a pm.

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it this weekend. :'( Have a couple of issue with my Omega at the moment which won't be sorted out until next Tuesday. Also, I'll be glued to the telly tomorrow and Sunday afternoon for the British GP - come on Lewis!! :y

I had a quick gander around this afternoon, since I found myself unexpectedly in the area.
Lots of boy-racer Astras, a few nice looking GSI Vectras, but not too many Omegas in evidence. :( Though I did spot a number plate that I'd quite like - V6 MVG (made to look like V6 MV6). 8-)
