F/S 2003 '03' 2.6 Elite Auto Saloon / Black / Black LT
« on: 17 February 2015, 12:22:46 »

'MV03 NXR' is a Vauxhall Omega 2.6 Elite Saloon. It was registered on the 3rd of March 2003 and has covered 178,600 miles from new. The service history and MOT's confirms this mileage to be correct. It is presented in Black Sapphire (Z20R) with Charcoal Leather.

The vehicle has belonged to forum members since 2009. It previously belonged to Ian Underwood, who always kept it to a high standard, and latterly another member who again kept it in very good condition.

There is a full and comprehensive service history. The cambelt was replaced at 173,000 on the 1st of March 2014 (Invoice Held) with additional service work carried out. Can provide more detailed account of service records if required.

This Omega also has a stainless steel exhaust system, it is discreet - thankfully!

The late model Omega Elite's have indirect night lighting, textured leather interior along with the standard Elite features.

Additionally this Omega has a fully functioning rear blind, this was not standard on the late Elite's. The later 7 spoke 17'' Elite wheels have been replaced with the earlier 5 spoke 17'' Elite wheels.

Points to note - 0420 code present, illuminates emissions light / Will require new N/S/R tyre soon.

MOT - 8th May 2015

£825 - At this price the vehicle will have a replacement tyre fitted, and a new MOT.

Alternatively make an offer!

0420 is the precat censor. Nothing to worry about its just a pain when the light comes on. You can get rid of it by getting the censor moved.

Or letting the bulb blow before you can get around to it ;D :-X

I've reset the 0420 code, I've travelled 36 miles in this Omega today, and the light has stayed off. But, I know at some point it will come back on.

The pre-cat sensor needs moving, I would expect a DIY cost to be minimal, but £100 to get someone to do it for you.

The emissions are not above tolerance levels, so will pass an MOT. But, you are correct to be weary, if the cause of the emissions light was unknown it may well not pass.

Depends on the tester and the actual emissions test :-X

In my experience,  a couple of cans of Wynns fuel/injector cleaner, a tank of shell v power and a damn good thrashing on the way to the test normally keep it at bay for long enough to slip through... a brand new air filter can also help :y

If i were to purchase this car,i would be inclined to get the censors moved.Just as an aside,i have a 3.0 at the moment. What differences would i notice, between the 2.6 and 3.0.Top speed and acceleration.

3.0 will be quicker, but the 2.6 is a very capable allrounder, especially as a saloon...

On paper, 215 bhp vs 170bhp and perhaps a second difference to 60mph, top end, 3.0 will reach 145+, 2.6 should just top 130, both will reach 70 mph with ease ::) 2.6 is also easier to maintain as it has no egr or idle control valves to get in the way :y

I'm always happy to consider a P/X if it makes it easier  :y

Official 2.6 auto saloon figures are 139mph top speed, 0-60 of 9.5 seconds. For comparison a 3.2 auto saloon can do 149mph and 0-60 of 8.0 seconds.

Not according to gov.uk.

If it's going to possibly fail the MOT depending on the garage, To save the fuss why not just remove the bulb and put it back in after that's if you like the light constantly being lit because of the common CAT issue until you move the sensor when you have a chance for the next time.

Then again you can take the risk you might get an understanding person at the MOT..

What small world Josh - I absolutely loved this car and I'd have it back in a heart beat  :'( but economics of 2 teenage drivers and lack of space just don't add up for it  :'(
May I ask where the other wheels went  ::) - I thought they looked amazing ..

The colour is just stunning when it's polished, (doesn't look bad now though still  :y) and it'd be great to see it stay on the forum peeps.
Nice one Josh - hope very much to make the high Wycombe meet in May too - I'll bring the wash kit  ;D
