Door locking problem
« on: 02 August 2014, 17:58:56 »

Hi guys

Need your help on this

I have just met with new member Scorcher, he is struggling with posting at the moment so hope it's ok if I start this thread off for him  :)

His recently aquired car is a '51 plate manual 2.6 elite saloon.  There seems to be a few minor electrical issues starting with this door locking problem .

Locking wont work with the drivers door closed  . .  . open door  . .  locking works  . . .hold interior light button by door hinge in & locking works.

Any ideas where to start looking ?     TIA    Al  & Scorcher :y

Just to add to the above  . .  tried a locking re set  .  .that would not work.

Also all 4 doors lock if sitting in the car & pushing the drivers  door button down manually with door closed .

Also tried locking with the fob with the passenger door open  . . . nothing happens at all

No Rob not yet  . . . did not have much time this afternoon. But can try that next time I see Scorcher.

Have thought about pulling fuse No.7  & then trying then trying the fob . Do you think that may work ?

Sounds like a break/weak spot in the loom between the A post and the drivers door :-\

New drivers door loom probably as easy as repairing the break...

I have noticed on each of the front doors a red wire running alongside the rubber that goes between the door and the a pillar. Is is normal or could this be a previous repair?

There's a thin red plastic strip which is part of the plug assembly on the front door looms...

A pic would be handy :y
