CD-R 2006 removal help
« on: 08 August 2014, 17:53:56 »

Could someone on here please tell me how to get this radio out?
Already thinking of scrapping the car.
This antik radio is doing my head in.
Don't play the most of my cd and radio is crap.
Tryd the removal tools, no choice.
The plastik came of straight away, but the actually unit don't move.
Tryd big screwdriver but I stopt before I broke any switches next to it.

Is there any way to get the whole middle console front facia off to access this bloody radio cage and remove the whole bloody thing.

I got space in the bin.

Mainly another question, what loom connectors are attached to this bloody thing?
ISO connectors I hope ? Please tell me they are.

Thanks.
Got it out. Never needed 1 hour to get a stereo head unit out of a car.
Done now.
Got my dad unit in and it works same way as the original stereo.
The only thing which is missing is the date, but I can live with it.

So can get my old unit out, back in the v70 and wait Until the new one arives.

so this slot is a bit too small for the unit and the wires right behind, may have to cut the rear out to drop the connectors behind so the unit fits tight in it.
I have a look tomorrow in the day light.

Front is ok.
It's the space in the rear.
The new radio sticks out . 2 cm. to far for auto gearbox stick.
Fingers getting squashed between radio and gearstick. Lol
Need to go in more.
So ISO plugs in the way on the back,  cut rear plastic and make space for them to go behind gives this 2 cm to make it level with the front .

They always are a very tight fit due to lack of space at the rear...after a lot of  pushing the wires at the back down as far as they go i always managed to do it after a lot of f..ing and blinding.. :y

yep.
think i cut a hole in the rear bottom of the plastik insert.
wires can go down there without pressing or breaking fingers.
there is enough space for the iso connectors to fall down out the way.

would anyone know how to get some wires through the rear as i have to connect a gps areal and feed the microphone through/

When fitting aftermarket you gain enough space if you discard the metal cage

Thanks,
Dismantled the passenger side cover and found a way to feed the gps areal cable through.
Metall cage is gone and got the tools for cutting a hole tomorrow in the bottom off the plastik interior where the radio cage sit.
So ISO connectors can drop down which gives space to get the new system right in.

And yes, have to swap the two plus connections cross'over.
Apart from all this looking forward to my new stereo. Lol

Wheels refurbished and resprayed today, all scratches sorted and waxed the whole car.
Looks actually quiet good now.
Only thing I need to do next is respray the bumpers after I got the scrapes out and
Get a full service done next month.

There's a route out for feeding cables to the left of the Double Din space then down and back along the inside of the centre console appearing at the rear just below / to the right of the rear of the glovebox.... If that makes sense  :y ::) ;D

Yes it did.
Thanks.
I only needed for the gps arel which is on top of the dash by the windscreen.
No feed to the outside and works perfect.
