Title: Cylinder Head Coolant Flange Gasket
Post by: addy on 12 May 2019, 16:31:54
Does anyone know where I can get one of these gaskets, or if one made from proper metal gasket paper can be used? The one I took off looked like the one in the picture, so I assume it is made of metal, due to heat from the area it is in. I found this one on ebay but it is sold out. It is for a 1995 Vauxhall Omega 2lt (X20XEV) engine

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is that the gasket for the EGR valve? In which case you should consider blanking it off with one made from sheet metal gasket. Some say even one made from a baked bean tin.

No it is to go between the cylinder head and the piece that it sits on. I seem to be unable to get the ecu coolant sensor connector off, I have squeezed the spring in. Is there another way it comes off?

What engine? Installed in an Omega? X20XEV as mentioned in your opening post?

yes it is a x20xev engine. I am sure I read somewhere that the Z20Let is basicly the same engine? I have found the part I am looking for, but it says for z20let engine.

Hi Doctor Gollum

Thank you for the link I have ordered one. My reply was to Enceladus, explaining that it is a X20XEV engine I have, but the part I found was for a Z20let engine. My apologise if it came across as I was still looking, even after your help.

Your engine was likely built with gasket GM# 90466993. This part was superseded by GM# 24416792. It seems that the same gasket (GM 24416792) is used on multiple engines including X20XEV and Z20LE* variants used in Astras and others.

So to answer the  question, one intended for a Z20LET will be fine. I suspect the earlier gasket is paper and the later metallic. The gasket is also included as standard in the head gasket set for these engines. So I'm a bit surprised about the lack of availability on ebay UK. Did you try a dealer for a Vauxhall original part? Or your local friendly motor factor?

As to the sensor plug. If there is a retaining cover, then pull that back (but don't break) and you should find a black clip underneath. Release and the plug should pull off. The sensor should unscrew from the flange.

Sorry for the delay,on sorting the gasket on wifes 1995 2ltr Omega, the Gasket arrived. The coolant flange went back on easier than it came off. The engine is running smooth, with the reading which gives instant fuel consumption, back to where it was before all the engine work, coolant temp on dashboard is sitting around the 90 same as before work, so thank you everyone for your patience and answering all the questions. I am pleased with what I have done to get it sorted.
