Sorted my issue with a dim battery light today. Replaced the dodgy alternator to battery wiring, fitted a new battery connector etc and hooked it all together with a monstrous junction box I purchased from Screwfix.

Ran the old bus up to temp while putting maximum draw on the battery (heated seats, rear window, lights all on) and no heat in any of the joints or connections is a good sign (previously the alternator cable was getting too hot to touch due to the poor connection).

I also changed the sender for the temp gauge. What a oppsing performance! Which moron decided that that was the best place for a sensor!  :D If anyone thinks its of value, I'm tempted to put a quick How To together for this, or more accurately a "How to bloody find it"  ;D

After a thorough wash last night (I didn't see the point in polishing her then) I will use the new autoglym polish pads once I've clay bared her, ill use these diomond shaped pads to apply a nice layer of extra gloss and I'll spend a while on the glass as i always miss. It's when I'm taking the polish off.

It's in the coolant bridge at the rear of the engine. You need to take the inlet manifold off to access it in an Omega (it is is probably easy to get too in a Vectra/Signum/Insignia)

Thankfully (in this case) I've got a Desmond, so all I needed to remove was the breather hose on the side of the cam cover and reach around the back.

Took me the best part of an hr to find the little blighter. If I were doing it again, it would be a 10 min job maximum)

Unplugging and hoiking out the coil pack is equally effective for improving access ;)

There's enough sprogs popping out without inflicting more of me on the world  ::)

 ;)

My thoughts exactly, but you don't have to be a mum to have a mum bus. Just ask TheBoy.. :-X
True, but in his, somewhat limited, defence he really wanted a shed or a Transit,  but Sue said no to the Transit and the Zafira was cheaper than a shed... :D

Besides, he doesn't like the Omega estate ::)
I needed emergency storage whilst the insurance were dragging their heals in sorting the garage reconstruction.  I'd have to concede that its really useful for when I do my annual good deed, and take the outlaws away for the week, as they find it easier to get in and out of than standard cars.

I think the MOT is due, though, I'd better check  :-[.  It's gonna need some DTM lovin' before its MOT, if it hasn't already run out (in which case I'll have to get garage to do it, as I'm still suffering :()

I think I would rather lift the inlet manifold.
And that's with my coil pack attached with only three of the bolts.

Manflu? I'm still not right and I came down with it the first week of December! The cough and post nasal drip just will not do one and my inner ears are still full of what sounds like CV grease..

Indeed, even with my shovel sized mitts it was easy to get to with the breather removed. Although if you're less than about 5'11" you'll be nearly lying on the engine to reach it :P

I do have that heavy cold that appears to go away after a week or so, then come back about 10 days later. Everyone round here seems to have it.

But, no, my problem is I've somehow hurt my ankle  :'(.  I've spent 2 weeks only being able to move by crawling on all fours, although I am able to walk limp/hobble about now :)

I now have the wounded knight from Monty Python in my mind  ;D

I pulled a muscle in my back taking washing out of the machine yesterday.. I think this may be a sign of age? .. and also that I shouldn't be allowed in the kitchen..

Fitted a new starter motor to my 1999 2.5 CDX Omega.

Like many before me I am no spring chicken and working under the car is not as easy as it used to be.  :(

Can hardly walk now!!!!
