after a very cold spell i started up my 2.5 24v cdx auto, set of driving , no probs, and then the throttle intemittently began to stick at or creep up to about 2600 rpm, and after a minute or so dropped back down to normal ! this is still happening, and a couple of times when stood in traffic, on tickover and in drive, the revs will increase without me touching the throttle, and car drives forword., not nice. also another problem started at the same time the, auto box wont kick down, it will change down 1 gear when in drive and driving normally, but if i full throttle it to kick down it just will not respond and puts the box in safe mode, with dash gearbox warning light on. if i switch the ignition off, then restart, it resets and gearbox is fine until i boot it again and the its back to square 1. would appreciate any help on this. May sound too easy, but check your battery voltage under load.

Apart from that, until you read the Transmission fault codes, you are not going anywhere fast!

Sticky throttle and rev problems could be ICV (idle control valve) silver shiney thing by oil filler neck. Give it a good clean with carb cleaner. Autobox, check fluid level. Paperclip it for any engine fault codes, not only autobox problems that will throw it into "limp mode" http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

the air intake temp can make engine do that, alters the engine revs, works ok if you put a cover infrunt of intake pipe at frunt not to cover it but to stop the cold air coming in wile on move. you can get them from vauxhall.

revs rising, i would suspect a major air leak, icv issue( clean with carb cleaner and insure firm airtite seal on refitting) or possibly a maf issue(unplugg and see if it runs better on the default map).

Ideally needs to go on a decent code reader that can read engine and gearbox codes (which rules out most generic readers).
