Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rate or Slate
« on: 05 March 2022, 11:53:06 »
With my health issues I cant to stand for long at all and have been looking at ways to quickly disconect the battery due to not using the car much. :-\

Considered a Battery master switch but dont know where I would fit it.

Thought about a resettable fuse idea ((maybe just break the circuit when not in use)by far the easiet method for me) and hopefully could work on the earth strap?

But came across these today with a view to changeing the clamp on the Earth only.

No idea what the battery terminal size is but assuming a standard fitting, if this item is suitable then my question would be what size is the earth cable conection the the terminal?

Interested in everyones thoughts on this. :y

Just imagine as EV's get older and maybe after some repairs I just wonder how they will deal with all this bad weather and flooding etc will the cars just fizzle and spark in the water or will they turn into proper electrical shows. ::)

General Car Chat / Ford Mondeo
« on: 18 February 2022, 11:13:52 »
Allways been a Vauxhall fan

Have tried various other makes Nissan, Pontiac, Chevy, Jaguar etc  Tried 2 Fords V6 Granada (that caught fire on me) and an Escort van used for business.

Started to take a shine to the last model and compared the 4x4 estates compared the specs etc but couldnt find a decent low mileage model.

The over the last couple of years it's all changed to EV/Hydrid models and future changes to production and the future death of the petrol car.

Recently I saw picture of the 2022 Mondeo, love the exterior design, nice dash setup (Maybe loads to go wrong) etc etc

But there is a downside.

Only to be sold exclusivly in China.

General Discussion Area / Smart Meters - Billing
« on: 29 January 2022, 10:44:45 »
I am with EON

Had the smart meters fitted (after 2 attemps) a few years ago  Novelty of monitoring usage wore off after a week or so. :-\

Before christmas they said they had a problem with the smart reader readings but was now sorted, shortly after I recieved an email saying how regular I could have the system monited, 15 mins, hourly, daily etc

So why are they still sending estimated bills? >:(

Also now they are not sending meter readers out what happened to inspecing the meters etc.  I was told by EON that by law they have to inspect the equipment every 2 years.

Not really into loyalty cards, but found out I had a Nectar card.  Couldnt log into my old card account so orded a new card & key  thing, got points tranfered from old to new card (all 35 of them.) :y

Card arrived, re registered as required and  . . . . . . . no acess, so on to customer services, umpteen messages etc then just cut off. :-X

Tried again to speak to someone, got to the point of speaking to a human just to get cut off. . . . anyways got that session sorted. :y

So checked my points to see if my Argos points were added to find nothing added. checked the activity statement, fuel & ebay points added instantly.

Back to customer services, same performance as last time (cut off twice) AGGGGGHHHHH :-\

Constantly talked over, asked a question by them and talked of whilst trying to reply.
Ask them a question and no responce.
Asked to speak to a manager to get total silence.

What is the point of them when they are no help at all. :-X

Bought a Dyson DC07 Animal approx 2003 :y

Never been abused & never had a single issue with it, noticed the suction tube from the pick up head was split when I was cleaning the head a couple of months ago.  So ordered a new tube and a drive belt online. :-\

Hoovered a load of shredded paper I had spilt this morning so used the pipe to hoover it up, for the 1st time ever it suffered a blokcage  (where the dust enters the cylinder ) it was easily sorted but whilst sorting it I chipped the latch mechanism (Still works ok) and noticed the belt had snapped.

Had a look on Currys/Argos to see what new ones cost (upright/corded)  only 3 models available. Cheapest is a clearange model, Most exspensive is out of stock everywhere inc Dyson, So just the one option. :-\

So as I cant be A**d to fix my DC07 :(

Do I go for another Dyson or try a different brand?
(DYSON Ball Animal 2 Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner is my prefered choice - but no stock & wondering if going to be discontinued)

Any recomendations (Dont want cordless) :y

General Discussion Area / Banking - Christmas Bank Holidays.
« on: 29 December 2021, 11:34:04 »
A couple of years ago I gained a £12 late change because of a bank delaying the payment.  I got the charge back as it was not my fault and got £10 compensation for the agro it caused.

With payment due this week I made a manual payment takeing into consideration the 2 working days transfer time  and paid last months balance in full plus some extra to reduce next months payments.

I made the payment on Tue 21st so should have arrived by the Fri 24th.

I thought it was due 29th for payment (automatic last balance in full payment) that mysteriously got changed to 27th (They did this on other occasions)  either way the payment was made on time.  But thier records show I made the payment on thier app on the 24th.

The problem I made with paying early was I didnt anticipate all the crap I have today.

Thier system has taken the setup ammount to pay last months bill in full.  Normally this is not a problem, but with one thing and another (cash machines running out of money over the holiday period etc etc) my money was drawn out and a minimum balance left to start the New Year (I do this every year)

So I get an email saying I will be going overdrawn please add funds by the end of the day etc.

So I try to do the right thing as history has a habbit of repeating itself.

Timeing goes against me.

I cant no matter what get to the bank to pay in today allthough I could have yesterday and Monday but they were shut.

I can afford to pay the whole balance in full but the cash aint in the bank.

I can tranfer money into the bank but thats 1/2/3 working days.

Most of the country works 24/7  just not the banking system.

Rant over - possible bank charges on way.
