Are you likely to use more than one tankful?

Just a standard car? Not sports car, jeep etc.

Just a std car be fine looking say corsa or Astra size, fuel would be return as collected, say full to full, or half out half back.

Last time I hired a car, did it through BA's website, for a weeks hire it added a whole £1 onto a flight ticket, I kid you not.  :o

While doing paper work at car collection, kept waiting for a new bill but nope. Weeks hire car for £1!

Was some POS Renult thing, but it did OK  :)

Sorry it has taken a bit of time.

Malagacar consistently are recommended. Helle Holis are too. Third choice would be Centauro who I believe do the full tank return empty but are competetive. On that subject have a read of the full/full etc conditions. There is a BP just before the airport if you need to fill up.

Some not recommended are Delpaso and Goldcar.

You could try using a broker Economycarhire.com who apparently have a good reputation but I don't know anyone who has used them.

If you haven't been to the airport for a while you will find that they have a raised dual carraigeway that takes you after about a mile straight onto the coast motorway making it a doddle to get to East or West of Malaga.

Hope that helps.

BA were cheaper  :y

Sleezyjet fly from Airports in the middle of nowhere, once you factor travel to these crap holes like Luton then all extras. BA often cheaper all in.

Massive thumbs up for Goldcar here - Not used them at Malaga, so don't know if they are on or off-site, but have used them twice this year in Fuerteventura and once this year in Alicante alone.  Even when off-site at FUE, bus transfer is quick and frequent.

I used them upwards of 15 times in 2015, and more than that in 2014.

Varche living down there would know Malaga Airport more than me for sure, so perhaps they have shitty staff or something, but for others travelling (especially to Murcia, Alicante or Fuerte) I'd very much recommend Goldcar.

I think the Goldcar issue is slow customer service. It is a busy airport.

One other point to anyone hiring a car in Andalucia is that the police have cottoned on to the speed camera as a way of raising revenue. They have fixed cameras, average speed cameras and mobile units. On the main motorway inland (to Granada/Antequera) from Malaga they were getting 60 vehicles a day. There is a website in fairness telling you all the fixed cameras and areas where the mobile units are going to be. Who on holiday wants to check that!
