Sorry, run out of electricity
« on: 03 February 2016, 21:51:16 »

Bloody iron set off the trip, and UPS failed to cope  >:(

Its buggered the backup database, so will have to take it down for an hour tomorrow evening to resync it all. Again.

Good work though for keeping the site up and running  :)

I thought in the Uk you technically have "unlimited" power at your disposal? Presumably this was a spike that upset the UPS.

Here in the third world we contract for maximum use e.g. 5.5KW and your standing charge reflects that and your bill is for used KW. If you exceed your contracted amount a customer resettable unit trips in your consumer unit.

Notwithstanding all that, thanks for keeping the server running. :y

I assumed it was the 30mA RCD (earth leakage trip) :-\

The BP garage would have to buy their own forecourt coating then. ::)

Iron is only rated at 2000W. I think its the mix of electric and water that keeps popping the house's main RCD.

May have been me. Not got any at the moment but there may be a possibility of sorting some out in the next month when I've upgraded a few more sites. Which 1500 model is it? RM2 'Rackmount' with the RBC24 tray or the 'desktop' style?

Its a standalone SmartUPS 1500, which I think is RBC7 battery pack....

Do a PAT test on your 1920's iron, the wiring and insulation 'might' be past their best! :o :o :o

It is much appreciated the time and effort you put in to keep OOF online, while multi-tasking by watching and listening to your favorite Swedish band at the same time! ::) ::) ::)

Christ knows what she does to them, but none of her irons last the warranty, and all seem to go the same way (causing trips to go, or won't heat up). No matter what brand. I think this one is Bosch.

I had my last Bosch for eight years before it refused to get up to operating temperature. Got another Bosch to replace it. It refuses to stick to anything.....which is just as well.  ;D

SHE was the one with 4 utterly wrecked tyres on her car.  Mine were all legal.

She is simply a vandal ;D
