Omega Electrical and Audio Help / headlight levelling sensor
« on: 17 April 2007, 11:33:27 »
I have been getting the very annoying low beam / field warning for some time now.

I have changed both servo motors on the rear of the headlights with no joy...

So today I ventured to remove the levelling sensor off the front nearside wishbone, it took about 30 mins due to the rusted nut that i had problems getting off.

I have attached the pictures below, I think the unit is broken due to the fact the part that goes into the sensor fell out easily during removal and seems not to be connected when pushed back in, it wont click into place or lock in any way.. which i assume it should??

General opinions on whether its knackered welcomed please.

Omega General Help / misfire and hesitation under load
« on: 14 July 2007, 17:03:28 »
When my car is under load it seems to misfire and hesitate then off she goes when the revs get up.

I took the earier accessable left two plugs out today and noticed there is oil around them...

Having done a bit of research on here would you say its the camcover gaskets? leaking oil onto the plugs thats causing this problem?

Omega General Help / Exhaust Quote
« on: 27 April 2007, 01:06:20 »
Knowing i have a hole in my back box (twin exit pipe) and my mot is due soon... thought i would take it for a free exhaust check at KWik fit today...

Told him to check the whole exhaust and tell me what needs replacing.

He confirmed the back box has a hole....

His quote (for single exit pipe) £92

HOWEVER... he said that it might be difficult or impossible to split it from the next sections so if they need replacing then that will bump the price up to £250 !

Two questions...

1) is he talking bullshit about splitting the sections?
2) for some reason my 2.5v6 Elite has the twin exit exhaust, a pattern exhaust(yes i know they are not brilliant but i am skint) is £33 but its £60+ for the twin exit!  will there be any performance loss by me going for the single exit back box??

Thanks

Omega General Help / Exhaust coating
« on: 07 May 2007, 15:01:14 »
As some will know (if you have read my EXHAUST QUOTE thread) I am about to have a CHEAP! replacement back box fitted to my omega..

I was wondering if there are any paintable coatings that can be applied to exhaust systems to stop them corroding as quick as they do???

Done a quick search of the net but nothing obvious.

Omega General Help / Headlight adjuster
« on: 02 May 2007, 13:09:53 »
OK.. some of you may remember i have broken headlight adjuster in my HIDS..causes it to wobble about..

I bought a hid unit of ebay £40 only to find that adjuster was broken into 1 million pieces and totally un repairable.

so.... bought another (projector) non hid this time... they are the same unit (just different fitting and electrics for the HID) £35

Guess what...that adjuster is broken too... not as many pieces so may be able to fix it...

Question 1. what is the best glue for hard plastics? needs to be quick like super glue...but stronger?
Question 2. after all this i assume you cant just buy the part from VX? saw a part number in this one 147 756.. can someone check this part number for me see if i can buy one!

Thanks

Omega General Help / Rear box... opinion which to buy
« on: 18 April 2007, 10:43:42 »
I have my MOT next month! :(

I know I have a whole in my back box so I am gonna need to get a new one. It is the twin pipe type

What are peoples opinion on what to get. I am not to bothered about the twin pipe. I never keep cars for more than 2 years so a stainless one that lasts forever is'nt an option.

I have a very limited budget.

I would normally goto places like Quick fit or ATS.. should these places be avoided.

Also there are some on ebay

anyone had experience of these?

What sort of cost am I looking at generally?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Headlight question?
« on: 16 April 2007, 11:19:52 »
I have xenons on my mini facelift elite. However one of the adjusters inside the headlight has broken so the inner lens flops all over the place.. i have tried repairing it but the plastic part is just too brittle.

I am wondering if the NON Xenon projector headlights have the same adjuster as it is cheaper on ebay to get one of those rather than a xenon?

Help appreciated.

also anybody have a headlight they dont want (will post in wanted soon)

Omega General Help / Headlight level sensor
« on: 25 March 2007, 16:23:52 »
I have recently replaced the motors at the rear of my Xenons because of the Low Beam warning on the MID (which is doing my head in!) However its still giving me the warning...

I am guessing its the leveling sensor at the front due to the previous owner having done the wishbones a while back i bet he has knackered the unit.

I took the front n/s wheel off this morning and found the sensor...sprayed a bit of WD40 but that did'nt work.

reaching to the back of the unit where the ball joint goes into the square block i moved the joint and out it popped, bit dirty so cleaned with WD40 and repositioned it.

STILL NOT WORKING!

anyone have any experience with these who has any wods of wisdom?

Omega General Help / Hello and HID Help
« on: 26 February 2007, 23:55:20 »
Hello my name is Dean and i am new to the forum, I have just purchased a 1998 Omega Elite 2.5V6 in Gold. I absolutely love it but there are a couple of issues i need help with.

The car is fitted with HID's however someone has changed the light switch box and now it has the manual levelling switch (it does not work however). I am aware that it should have an auto levelling system, but when i turn the dipped beams on, i get the initial blue(ish light) but no auto levelling takes place and it looks as if the drivers side is very low....

Also the drivers side light unit has condensation inside it...

So my questions to the wise ones are.

1)why would the auto levelling not be working?
2)how do i adjust them manually?
3)is it possible to open the headlight unit and clean out the water and condensation.
4)The hids give of an initial blue ish light but then seem to fade to white, is this normal, I thought they should stay blueish?

Hope you can help

Thanks

Dean
