2.5TD ESTATE FUEL TANK PUMP UNIT

Can anyone tell me how to remove the unit within the fuel tank?
I've accessed and removed the top circular portion, but can't see how to release the base portion which sits in the tank.
Someone must know! Thanks in anticipation fellas!
