Just to let you know Paul, the gearstick surround 'in silver' isnt standard, you won't find another. Omega FLs have rubberised coatings over everything which wears at higher mileage, including here. Like the vents and scallops behind the door handles, these were resprayed in silver - Vauxhall Mistral Grey or Smoke Grey if memory serves (seem to er on the side of Smoke.) So to replace the surround is simply a case of ping it off, in the washing up bowl, then a quick dust with a £5 rattlecan.

Point taken, but when you say 'Isn't standard' they must be on the MV6 as I have bought silver dash items in the past from cars that were broken up for parts either on here or eBay...

If a replacement one doesn't come up for sale, i'll respray the one on the car in Vx Mistral Gray as you've suggested

Hey mate,

In terms of 'gearstick surround' I suppose this could be taken as meaning two different parts. The trim that is wood effect on all other models, on MV6s is silver (I actually have a set kicking around somewhere, already sprayed silver, which sadly has now picked up some storage scuffs /knocks etc due to lack of interest) and on your CDX this is wood effect, same as factory.

As for the other part, which is Mistral/Smoke in my old your car which contains the ice mode and gear indicators - this is the part I was referring. All Omegas have this in the same colour, be it GLS, MV6 or Elite, it's a rubberised grey. This is rubberised at the factory, but wears and so many opt to rub off the remaining rubberised coating leaving an similarly-coloured plastic underneath, which looks fine. This is the part which is resprayed on your motor.


Hope you find one. I've got a fellow OOFer on my 'requests list' as soon as I find one I'm sending him it, but even on a 37k Omega in the scrapyard had a worn one, so no idea if you'll get one or not to be honest. Worth looking, though, of course.
