For the first time ever he actually got involved, to a degree. Changed the air filter and fitted the new rear exhaust rubber. Then apparently footballists were kicking a ball around on TV and it just couldnt be missed.  ::) :)
If he comes back in a week or two I can change the cambelt and aux. belt in around an hour and he will be £30 - 40 lighter.
Its a no brainer, but his thinking is that it cost £350 five years ago, and it may not be worth keep spending on it.
I advised that with that attitude he will probably soon have to replace it with something else, so.....
Tbh its been a great little car for not much money. Flies through MOT,s and has never broken down or gone wrong.
It could last for years with a little care, if he wants it to.

Presumably it's worth spending money filling it with petrol, though? ::)

Basic maintenance and servicing is an unavoidable cost no matter what car you drive or how much it cost. Even if he put the 'saved' £40 somewhere, it wouldn't add much to the budget for another car......

A cam belt id probably one of the first jobs to do if you replace a car anyway
then you find all the niggles and bits that need sorting (the reason the car was sold)
sometimes "better the devil you know" makes good financial sense , until it doesn't  :P

I completely agree with all of the above. Son checks tyre pressures once a month, but otherwise has no interest until it breaks down.
When I can be arsed I will talk a little bit of sense into him.  ::)

Stripped and cleaned the rear brakes on the Barge to try and resolve very squeaky brakes.

Now not completely squeak free, but occasional is significantly better than whenever the pedal is pressed.

Spent most of the day shovelling out, hoovering, washing, cleaning and removing spiders from the Sh!troen. I'll write the eBay ad shortly.

Fresh MOT and a service at the local garage next week, collecting the 335d on Friday  8)

Another week, that must mean its time for the Jag's alarm to falsely trigger.

It didn't disappoint.

I really didn't need to plug the diags in to find out why, seeing as I've already replaced 3 or the 4 door latches recently. But I went through the motions, plus I wanted to see if I could kick the IAM unit into accepting postcodes.

So, yet another door latch on order. I could get one for under £30 from ching chong chinaland, £80 from UK, or £60 from ze Germans. So went for latter.

Now its having to be refilled with electricity again (SDD diags really does hammer the battery), 2nd time this week seeing as I had SDD on it at the weekend to ascertain why it decided limp mode was a great way to drive the last 60 or 70 miles back from its trip to Scotland.

Yeh that's what the missus said  ;D
Don't want to get to the point were I have to scrap it so i'm going to sort out the wheel arches and other bits and bobs while I look around then sell it on.
They can't be many 3.2 Mv6 estates out there with totally sorted suspension / bushes, a proper manual conversion and once the arches are done, very little rust  :y
164K miles and sweet as a nut engine and LPG if the new owner can be bothered to fit a new LPG tank  :y

Washed and hoovered the inside of both. Reminded myself again that I need to do cambelt kits on both.  ::)
