EGR Valve sourcing and pricing
« on: 22 September 2010, 10:08:04 »

hi Guys....  Miggy needs a new EGR valve (and gasket) , Garage have quote me £254..   I'm pretty sure i remember paying about half that on Jaime's trade club card last time (on previous miggy) ...

can anyone confirm or deny this....  preferably in a hurry.//    I need the damn car at the weekend , so need to give the garage a go ahead, or an alternative ASAP.

thanks.

Clean it out with oven cleaner and then refit with a blanking plate.

I seem to recall the Vx item (blanking plate) used on Astras etc fits.

Dealers call it a "plug" # 92065430
They also do this one Astra MK4, Signum, Vectra C, Zafira (Z22SE engines) GM Part Number: 24575592

I wondered about the Blanking plate thing....   what's best to use for this asa temporary measure?

and Mark, why clean it out with oven cleaner if blanking and replacing?  (the housing is cracked between the manifold and valve itself....   so it needs a new one... period...     happy to buy a second hand unit, just in a hurry to get the car road worthy, need to go to Louth (lincs) at the weekend.

according to my EPC, that is NLS, and the replacement is 92065430 of which there is no picture, the other part number looks right though  :y

Hi
Just blank off the broken one.  It needs to be cleaned out and the pintle moving and then connected electrically or it will put the fault light on.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

WTF is a Pintle?

will it be okay if the thing is blocked up using said part no, refitted, and connected....

regards the fault, i'm given to understand it's not the valve itself, but the valve housing, just below the base of the block top bit,  it is cracked, and blowing....   so if blocked, it will stop blowing, and continue to behave until i can get the baron's one fitted.... yes?

It wont be cracked (unless somehow the garage have broken it), there will be signs of soot around the base where the seal between the body and base has failed.

Hence, cleaning the pintel so it moves and gives the correct feedback to the ECU and a blanking plate is an ideal long term fix.
