Had a mini meet with Johnnydog to collect a bumper and bonnet to resolve my embarrassing front end damage  :-[

I would like to publicly thank him for a warm friendly reception, interesting conversation, good service and a future source for spares from the many mig’s he has

If you haven't already got sorted, I have a  front bumper in 'burgundy' red. Its currently on a 3.2 Elite saloon and will need taking off.  It has the washers and fogs. A few minor marks but no scuffs.
I'm also quite near to you.
Let me know if you are interested.

Hi folks

My 03 estate has had an embarrassing argument with a small tree and I need to replace the bumper. Burgundy red if possible and within pickup distance would be nice but not necessary.

Does not need to have the spots or washers attached as I can swop these over, but would make it easier.

Please reply if you have one available

Omega General Help / Re: Broken spring

Cheap... €35 for both...

https://www.atp-autoteile.de/de/product/76903-bestprice-2x-fahrwerksfeder-hinterachse/v-13648

Pricey but longer, possibly HD compared to cheap... €95 each...

https://www.atp-autoteile.de/de/product/882214-optimal-fahrwerksfeder/v-13648

Somewhere in the middle price wise, but definitely HD as thicker spring diameter than others and shorter but with more coils... £105 for both...

Thanks for that Doc, your precious  ::) ebay ones look like the right candidates

Omega General Help / Broken spring
« on: 16 April 2017, 23:25:09 »
Inevitably my rear NS spring has broken  ::) so going to replace both and considering upgrading to a stronger spring as she is often loaded up especially when going on holiday (no not with a tin tent).

Question is do I have to put in upgraded springs or is there a alternative solution ? like using standard vectra or astra estate springs which are just that little bit better (and possibly cheaper).

Thanks Phil

Do a vacuum leak test around the inlet, servo and EGR, also consider the MAF before splashing out on a cam sensor, that is the least likely to be the problem
HTH Phil

Not knowing too much about 4 pots . . .but can't the OP unplug the MAF  as a test & run on default . . . before replacing it ?

Also if coil pack was causing miss fire  . . wouldn't that give codes ?

My money is on cam sensor  . . . seems by far the most common fault causer on 4 pots reported on Oof over the years.

And mostly without a code showing  ;)

Al I would mostly agree with you

MAF unplug test is one way of considering if faulty although would cause a spanner light

Coil pack would give a misfire code but maybe not spanner. I get them sometimes when it stops to or runs out of LPG (spanner light stays on when the ignition lamp test end, should go out if no none critical codes stored)

Cam sensor is the common suggestion for most of the 4 pot problems but not the most common solution IME. I've had two desmonds over 10yrs and had not had to use my spare cam sensor I bought in the early days when it was suggested  :P

From the op's description of the problem it seems to be when throttle NOT in use the Miss fire occurs, throttle butterfly closed, Max vacuum min MAF. Any vac leak will confuse the EMS due to  lamba output, asks for more fuel and cause Mis fire and smell of petrol

Had experience of this, twice, one time was exhaust  manifold gasket leak where fumes fed back to EGR. Other time was EGR gasket where it bolts to the head.

Just thought, Alex44, also check the exhaust manifold itself has not cracked, remove heat shield normally shows on top

vacuum leak

Totally agree, air getting in system after the MAF

when tickover is rough spray brake/carb cleaner 'lightly' around the small vac pipes, brake servo, HBV, throttle body, pipes from cam cover to TBody. and EGR (rear of head). If tickover smooths then find the leak. Two small vac pipes go through bulkhead to cabin heater control, could be leaking behind dash, temporarily clamp them to test.

This could also be Lamba related eg not sensing correctly or heaters not working correctly, bit harder to diagnose without swopping for known good
