Omega Gallery / End of an era
« on: 04 June 2013, 18:40:27 »
After 16 years of owning Carltons and Omegas I have decided it's time for a change. I have just bought a C350, and the Mig goes on Saturday. I will be very sorry to part with the old Mig, and I hope the new car gives me as much pleasure as the Mig did. Here is the Mig replacement:

Hope I can find a Mercedes forum as good as this one!

Omega Gallery / Nothing like a Mig
« on: 18 February 2013, 18:32:39 »
Just bought this for the other half to nip down the shops in.

One too many pedals, two too few cylinders, wrong fuel, and wrong wheel drive for my liking, but it will out accelerate the Mig and is damned good fun  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Brake Light Check
« on: 02 October 2008, 09:53:02 »
I have an intermittent problem with the brake lights on my 2.6 Elite. Occasionally the display come up with "Brake Light Check". When this occurs I find that the brake lights work perfectly, but when I turn on the lights the high level brake light also illuminates (although not as brightly as when the brake pedal is depressed). After a day or so the problem corrects itself. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Many thanks,

Richard.  :(

Omega General Help / 12V socket.
« on: 20 February 2010, 12:07:27 »
I am thinking of buying a solar powered charger to keep the battery charged up whilst I go away for a month. I was thinking of plugging the charger into the 12V socket in the back of my 2001 Omega Elite. However I need to know if this socket is ignition controlled as I guess that the charger wouldn't work if it is.

Many thanks,

Richard.

Omega General Help / V6 Leaking!
« on: 11 May 2009, 19:00:35 »
After parking this afternoon I noticed that there was what I thought to be a fairly heavy water leak from the Mig. On closer inspection I found that the liquid wasn't water but a clear liquid with a slightly oily feel to it. It seems to be leaking from behind the engine. The leak seems to be coming from a metal block at the rear of the engine between the exhaust downpipes. This metal block has what looks like a couple of nipples protruding from its underside and its from here that its leaking. All fluid levels under the bonnet appear to be OK though. Has anyone any ideas?

Many thanks

Omega General Help / 2.6 V6 Number of Valves
« on: 21 February 2008, 19:15:04 »
I assumed that my 2001 2.6 Elite had 24 valves, but when I was speaking to the local Vauxhall dealer today he stated that is was 12 valves. Is he correct?

Hello.

My owners manual is missing the pages refering to cruise control. Can anybody please tell me how to operate the cruise control, Omega 2.6 Elite. Thanks in advance,

Omega General Help / Elite electrical problems
« on: 03 February 2008, 14:39:23 »
Hello all.

After 10 years with a Carlton I have just bought an Omega 2.6 Elite and I have a few of little problems with it.

The rear blind will not go up properly and the reversing sensor emits a continues beep when reverse is selected. The dealer has told me that the two problems are connected as the blind automatically goes up when reverse is selected, and as it's not working properly that causes the beep from the reversing sensor! Sounds like nonsense to me, but I thought I would check with the experts before going any further.

None of the heated seats work, but to me that suggests a fuse rather than switches / heat pads?

The boot will not open with the internal switch but is fine with the remote, the switch itself perhaps?

Any thoughts or ideas gratefuly received.

PS. Other than the above the Omega is fantastic, wish I had bought one years ago!

Omega Gallery / New pics of the Beast.

The rain has finally stopped in Dorset so I thought I would give the Beast a quick polish. The Mrs has a new camera and was looking for subject matter to practise on, so here are the results.

Brett.

You need to copy and paste the IMG Code of you photo into you message, not the HTML Code. The IMG Code is the 4th entry on PhotoBucket.

Good luck,

Anyone know how to read fault codes on a 1996 1.8 manual Vectra?

Is it possible to do the pedal or paperclip test?

Any thoughts?

Has anyone ever come across anything as unpleasant as this?
