Gearbox software (astra) or something else?
« on: 19 June 2019, 16:36:53 »

On first startup, whether the outside temperature is cold or warm, my auto box is holding on to the gears too long and changing down more frequently. Not every day, but two/three times a week. After a five minute run, engine off and on puts it back to 'normal'. It's not really a big problem, but could it be a sign of problems in the future? Thanks.

Sounds like it needs an oil and filter change :-\

Don't see what difference that would make, Barry. Most days it's fine.
Just to add, if I don't reset with ignition off/on, it will continue behaving in the same manner whether my journey is five miles or a hundred miles.
I'm wondering whether the ecu is running in 'cold' mode sometimes, regardless of the actual temperature.

Astra, crud in the Heater Matrix can sometimes cause all sorts of issues, Heater gets red hot when asked to?, also if its the later type Astra they have a plastic Coolant Temp housing which causes issue, is the Thermostat doing what it should, even brand new Stats can stay partially open after not many miles use.

Otherwise if its not temp related, than as said GB Oil and Filter change, but I didnt think yours was that old.

Suspect its intentional, though I would have thought less noticeable in the summer...

...unless its trying to clear a DPF  :-\

It's definitely not DPD related, I know when it's doing a regen and drive on till it's finished.
But, another thing, it's been doing regens every 200 miles or so, instead of the usual 300. I'll have to stop using Asda diesel for a while and put some premium stuff in. Painful since Asda is 124.7 at the moment and all the locals are 133.9.
