Latest exhaust replacement advice
« on: 28 March 2019, 15:32:19 »

Ladies/gents,

Who is the current go to company for a cats back exhaust system for a 2003 2.6 V6 saloon please ?

Just noticed some horse hair coming out of the pipe this morning.

Thanks in advance.

I got in touch with TTM and they tell me they don't stock a system for my car.  :'(

They lie... 2.5/3.0 will fit pretty much perfectly  ;)

The exhausts are the same for any Omega V6 saloon except for the tailpipes on the back box. 3.0/3.2 have twin pipes and 2.5/2.6 have just one. AIUI the difference is a cosmetic embellishment, functionally they are the same. So a 3.0 back box should be fine on a 2.6.

Seemingly the complete TTM systems from the cats backwards is now only listed (by seller only-exhaust) for 3.0 V6 saloon, 3.0 V6 estate and 2.5 V6 estate. My guess is they had separate listings of the same parts for the 2.5, 2.6 & 3.2 saloons and likewise for 2.6, 3.0 & 3.2 estates, but they are now sold out. Could be no more will be manufactured.

Thanks gents. I'll go for the 2.5 with the single back box pipe.  :y

From ebay seller only-exhaust? The complete 2.5 system they have listed is for an estate. Estates differ from saloons. You need one for a saloon and that's the 3.0. At least if you want a TTM, there are other pricier makes available.

Or are you just going to buy the back box without the centre sections?

Just noticed the estate bit, thanks. I've got horse tail starting to appear out of the back box so I thought might as well do whole system.

The back box for the 3.0 with the twin pipes, will that foul against the gap in the bottom of the bumper or were the bumpers for all facelift saloons the same, meaning that the twin pipes will protrude through the gap comfortably ?

Bumpers all the same for any given year or body style regardless of engine :y

If it helps you could buy this complete exhaust here, which does specify it's for a 2.6 V6 saloon. £86 + £26 delivery.

I believe I bought the same one a couple of years ago for a 2.5, albeit from a different seller (might be the same company now renamed). Was delivered from Germany within a week. No complaints. Fitted just fine and thicker metal than I expected. Certainly better than the Bosal ones.

I did the 'make an offer' and got it for around £80.00 incl delivery. You could go to £94 and be no worse off.

Be aware that none of the exhausts available now have the tail-pipe embellishments that were on the factory fit back boxes. Maybe it's the embellishments that are making you think the 3.0 won't fit your 2.6.

I have a 2003 2.6 saloon, and the last back box I fitted was actually a 2.2 back box, which many suppliers list as the same part anyway as the 2.6, having a single exit pipe. Mine fitted perfectly, and the exit pipe was the correct longer  length, as some 2.5 boxes have shorter exit pipes which finish a little short of the bottom of the bumper cut out.
I also put a stainless end trim on it which neatly finished it off from an appearance point of view.
