General Car Chat / Re: LPG Availability ...or rather lack of it
« on: 10 March 2018, 11:21:52 »
Just had a word with a Calorgas driver, delivering to someone up the road. He said it’s been nuts. Not enough LPG in the country and mentioned something about a pipeline shut down in Scotland and a major shutdown at the Fawley Refinery. But he said they are catching up now.
Hope so. It’s not funny with no heating, cooker or hot water. The country is going to the dogs!

Flogas are responding to people’s posts/reviews on the Trustpilot site. Getting through on the phone is difficult. Had a look at posts to do with Calorgas, and they seem to be struggling as well on the domestic bulk gas deliveries.
Very frustrating to be sold an automatic top up service and have it fail without warning from the supplier. No information on their website, and it’s been going on for at least a few weeks now.

From what I have been told by Flogas, who are my domestic supplier of LPG, there is a general, national shortage of the stuff right now. They said one of the main storage depots is out of action, due to maintenance, and tanker ships are queuing up to off load the stuff.
I was told this on the phone to them, and the reasons are repeated on the Trustpilot site, where Flogas is getting a complete hammering with bad reviews. Domestic deliveries are not getting through in time, and people are running out.
I ran out about 2 weeks ago for 24 hours and was supposed to be on an automatic top up scheme with Flogas. When the tanker eventually arrived the driver said he had to drive much further to another depot to fill up, and only got filled at 3pm. He eventually got to me at 9.30pm.
Other people near me have run out of gas and have no idea when they will get some.
Have been looking on the web for confirmation of the above reasons, but not found anything. If true it’s all being kept quiet and out of the headlines. But it explains the shortage at petrol stations.

Omega General Help / Re: drive question in automatic

It's a good question. I suppose it depends what is slipping when you are stopped.
Is it one of the clutches slipping? or as I suspect, it is the torque converter slipping, or "giving".
If it's the t.c. It's doing what it should as its a fluid coupling.
Need an auto box expert.

Happy Birthday OOF. This place is the most valuable resource for keeping my dodgy motors on the road. Very glad it's still here.
Mind you it still has its adolescent years to come, be afraid, very afraid.

Omega General Help / Re: New LPG injectors needed
« on: 18 May 2016, 23:38:16 »
I went to them, and all was well for a while. But then it played up, as you have described.
The coolant plumbing was wrong. I re-routed it as per the guide on here, and all was fine.
Then after about a year, the injectors failed. They were cheap copies of Valteks, and the seals in them broke up. I bought a Valtek repair kit, retuned with the software from the Stag website, and that sorted things out for a long time.
Another thing they did wrong was not fitting clips to the rubber injection feeds at the inlet manifold nozzles. The pipes were just pushed on. This was fine for a long time, but eventually the plpes went slack. Only found out by accident and fitted clips.
Seemed fine when they did it, and car ran well for a while. It was fitted in the summer and did not play up until the colder weather.
I lived in London at the time so, was not going to take it back.
You could say they did all the hard work, but, I don't think I will ever go back.
This was on my previous car, a 2.0 litre 4 pot. My brother in law still runs it now. :y
