7 SAFE means radio and ignition switched on for up to 2 hours before another code attempt is possible

As others have said, the cheesy Chinebay units are utter trash - you get what you pay for, and if it looks cheap, then so will be the quality and performance.

An in-line unit spliced into the aerial lead is usually the way to go, however, with the Omega FM aerial being built into the rear screen and signal coming from a small booster unit in order to get it as far as the front of the car, usually means that cutting the aerial lead often knocks out the FM radio as a result as the signal just isn`t healthy enough.

We fit a lot of A/V units to cars, and we use these FM Modulators. Not cheap, but NEVER had an issue with them.

Not a cheap option, but we use these on a "commercial" basis, ie: just about every other car here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOCO-GB70-Boost-Pack-Jump-Starter-Peugeot-Geopolis-250-ie-Executive-ABS-2009-/272552361424?epid=1256503503&hash=item3f7562fdd0:g:SRUAAOSwtfhYnZV-

very small, quick to charge, and can start just about anything from a large diesel to a V12 Jag

Well worth the investment    :y

Once all ten attempts have been used, the radio will not reset itself, no matter how long you leave it on for.

I couldn`t see which make and model you had from the thread, but most of them can be reset by us if sent in to our workshop.

I have just bought a GMC water sensor from US Automotive (Bedford) , and was told its widely used amongst Vauxhalls

Unsure if this helps ?

Could this be the old chestnut of a faulty alarm power sounder draining the battery ?    ???

I think the immobiliser issue was misdiagnosis  >:(, and you have either a fuel/injector issue, or crank sensor problem.

I have to agree here - the immobilisers seldom give any cause for concern, and if they did fail, it would not be a case of starting every second turn, if they fail, they fail.

Really does sound like crank sensor to me - and the fact that you have previously been playing in this area with a replacement just confirms my suspicions. The aftermarket ones are poor and any wiring in the locality seems very fragile.

I`d start here again

After a while i did this and found it was a active aerial

Don`t take this as gospel, but I don`t recall ever seeing a non-active OEM beesting aerial on any GM model   :-\

I would be looking at the condition of the battery earth cable where it attaches to the body   ;)

I would say that a good relationship with your MOT tester is more important than price.

Although I am classed as Motor Trade, I never ask for a discount and pay £40 for my tests. I also go to a testing centre that is very strict, but due to the mileage we cover, I am happy to know that the car is in tip top condition. However, what makes the big difference to me is that my MOT guy will allow me to accompany him when doing the test, and he will point out to me various unrelated mot aspects that may or may not need attention at some point soon, and will allow me to rectify anything if needed. He is not afraid to fail something in front of me either.

For that, I am happy to pay the price - its quite a small one given a years ticket and a second set of eyes

You can, but you ideally need the entire setup from a non Elite car as the Bose aspect will cause no end of headaches.
On the lesser HUs the BOSE enabled versions can be configured for normal 4Ohm outupt using Tech 2.

A common misconception - not all stereos can be configured from BOSE to NON-BOSE (or Vice Versa) with Tech 2 (or similar)

Many have been caught out with that one.

I would first be looking at a poor earth on that cluster

No problems in refurbing that unit if you want to keep it all original

Which version have you got?

Delco  or  SiemensVDO  or VDO ?   (all use different parts inside - but most kept in stock)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: No CCR2006 display
« on: 25 January 2017, 11:23:20 »
It should still light up the middle section and request a code, irrespective of teh display settings, and if it goes blank after code entered, or code remains visible, then the display needs to be configured for either 8 or 10 digit type - Usually done by holding a couple of buttons as you switch on - 2 & 4 or 3 & 5 are the favorites - if you get nothing at all on the middle section, then I suspect you may have another fault that needs investigating
