Really looking forward to hearing the announcement that Ryanair has gone to the wall, used them once & never again absolute shite.

Trouble is that many people across the airline industry will be out of work soon, as DG has touched on.

That is the real danger from the virus, which people are panicking over.  Peoples financial situation will suffer far more from the virus than their health will.  That, for me, is the result of humans panicking and not keeping calm and carrying on! ::) ::) :(

For all its faults, and there are many, Ryanair will be alright, as will EasyJet.

I would be very surprised if Norwegian sees Wednesday.

Was in Costco earlier, and punters were going berserk over bog roll, which was being limited to 1 pack per customer, for obvious reasons.

There are 45 rolls to a pack.

Yet people were still trying various stunts to get multiple packs.

Christ, no wonder there is a shortage if families are getting through 45 rolls or shitter paper that quickly.

Was at a Lidl DC, Friday, floors absolutely full of products, they are having 3 loads per day of bog roll, which per trailer is  72 euro pallets per trailer, 3 layers per pallet, don't know what the pack count per pallet was.. Only problem know is Europe has closed borders which could start having effects on supplies across Europe, most EE traffic starts to arrive in Calais Tuesday/Wednesday, will be interesting to see what M20/M2 like will tell the story then.

I noticed that "Tuesday" Branson has asked the Govt. (taxpayers) to bung the airline industry £6.5 billion to see them through this.
Words fail me.

If staff are laid off, the government will be footing the bill anyway...

That said, Flybe was a nationwide flying bus service and that didn't warrant saving, so it would be fair to say that some big players are literally shitting themselves.

Also the industry isn't just the airlines... It's the handling agents, suppliers, maintenance operations, travel agents, mothballing costs, redundancy costs all having to be funded from non existent revenue.

Granted, most of the stoppages will be limited in duration, think volcanic eruptions, but some airlines didn't learn from that event or 9/11, so on balance those airlines will fail.

Just trying to think of an old codger I'd be glad to see the back of for four months in isolation. Jeremy Corbyn gets my vote.

Day 5,689.

Lets summarise.

It is just a cold, no one is going to die except a few people that are elderly or have asthma or other underlying medical conditions.

You catch it from proximity so stuff isolation, we Brits need to get out and share germs equally

The reality still hasn't sunk in but then Britain is still a couple of weeks behind the Italians or the Spanish.

A friends daughter still thinks she is going to Majorca next Saturday on holiday. I wonder how many people are expecting to go abroad on holiday at Easter, May or even late Summer.? It is only a cold after all.

Interesting couple of observations about the Chinese. The local Chinese poundshop near us in Spain has had its staff wearing masks for a week now. OH asked if they had any for sale ( for use during the pollen season). No but we have three left for our use. And gave her one for free. A Chinese restaurant in Filey has closed. Is this part of a grand atonement plan? Will they stop eating live animals or raw meat? No

Oh, do not worry, the people in our parts will be hijacking those lorries on the M20 as part of the panicking strategy!  ::) ::) ;D ;)

Isn't Costco like bookers cash and carry ?
so shops , clubs, pubs etc go to buy bulk because they need bulk to supply to customers

It was, but then it became a "members club"  meant for business, but all you had to do was be introduced by said business, then you got a card, all I've noticed is seems to be a lot of foreign types frequent the MK one.

The evening the US Federal Reserve Bank has dropped interest rates to zero and launched a $700bn Quantitive Easing programme.

Stock Market futures have plunged....

Meanwhile the EU dream is collapsing before their eyes. Germany has closed its borders, when it isn't supposed to have any, and no doubt the others will follow in the coming days.
Every cloud...….
