diesel injector cleaning how to
« on: 28 January 2010, 20:45:42 »

Tools needed 27mm deep socket 27mm injector socket a must for number 4 a 22mm spanner breaker bar a must not shown a gallon of clean diesel small paint brush and a small pale.

Remove all the injectors at the same time and be very careful with number 4 watch and not damage the sensor wire this is the reason for injector socket.

This is how to split the injectors you will need brute force or a good foot on spanner and push down until it slackens.

The below photo shows number 4 injector it has the addition of 2 washers above the spring the others don't have these there is a corrugated washer at the bottom of the injector head make sure it goes in the same way it came out (black bit down) at this point immerse the whole lot in the clean diesel and clean with the paint brush DO NOT USE ANYTHING ABRASIVE LIKE WIRE BRUSH WET&DRY you will damage the injector.  (edit : Ultrasonic cleaning may be an option if you have access to one)

Below is the injector head use a piece of kitchen paper to clean the nib this has 5 small grooves on it again NO ABRASIVES this part is the most sensitive bit.

Injector 4 the 2 washers

Replace the copper washer.
Before you replace the injectors put a new fuel filter on with diesel magic in it put rags under the injector pipes the turn the engine over for 20 seconds this will clean all the crap out of the fuel pump then replace all injectors again be careful with number 4 :y
