Omega General Help / Re: Rear pass side break kine
« on: 27 October 2018, 19:00:00 »
thaks get it ordered on monday. and its not dangerous to drive with no brakes and not illegal, brake failure is covered in the highway code and advanced driving, also under the equivalent to driving on ice. handbrake is the emergency braking system not just for parking up, that's why it tested as it is on an mot. and it was the break warning fluid light that's not come on. Any way parked up till fixed anyway.

Just come back with no breaks. Not even a break light on so checked the reservoir and it’s empty so had. Look on ground we’re been parked an looks like it’s leaking above the exhaust pipe area anyone know the fittings and pipe type or size? Cannot get under their today as it’s raining.  Looks like the only area on main line.

If you have a few day you not using car empty the water out of the heater and put a full bottle of Coca-Cola in there with 6 caps of string vinegar and leave it in there a few days . And the flush it out a good few times forward and backwards out in to a pan and filter it out to see if it worked at removing the build up.  Did it on a old rad and left it for a week and was completely cleans out  it had been sat in none moving vehicle for 15 years.  Don’t worry about it fizzing it’s jut bubbles inside the coke and vinegar. See if it works for you did not harm the rad I did it on.

It was near to Scots Courner. Info board 30mph said hazard in road but never saw a thing so don’t know how long it had been up. Went past a DVLA check point  think it was about 20 miles past the boarder.

Omega General Help / Re: rear judder
« on: 17 September 2018, 06:14:25 »
weak rear rubber mountings. could be twisting. you have to take that into account when lowering vehicles. could even be the wrong ones fitted. other judders can be springs and shocks not at the same height. if dif fine and drive shafts fine would check these.

take the spark plugs out and have a look at the pistons, if yo have been running engine for awhile with a water leak and the head gasket is blown the poisons that look clean is usually and indicator off the area its gone on the gasket.  but you can get a leak on the rear of the engine were the dispack and egr are that can make the exhaust steam up as it will leak on to the exhaust under pressure. aslo damp weather can cause steam on the manifold it can collect a lot of water in the air over a cold or damp night. best to check after engine has warmed up and look at the smoke coming out of the exhaust. even just holding your hand around the exhaust and seeing if its wet. or a gray white color when engine its a full temp.   also not running engine for adequate time can make it steam up 40/50 min drive time usually clears it.

On the half moon part on the seal has to be installed correctly or it will leak. The galmoon part on the lower part should ha a ridge that’s risen from the rest and that part fills the sealing area. Also if he small pipe on the top that goes to the intake in between 2 and 3 on the inlet is blocked it can add pressure on the top seal and leak around that area. They do get blocked up. I Idella put my hand down the back when putting the cam cover seal on with top on and check they both inline with my fingers. Rear ones always don’t line up when putting top on.

Check the fuel tank purge switch it’s the breather for the tank  located around the front window screen wiper motor. Should be able to blow down the pipes. Also check the seal on the fuel tank filler.  As that’s the secondary vent seal for pressure

When was the fuel filter last changed. As that might be one problem. Over heating check the thermos resister under the battery tray. They can work standing and then driving they fail. Check the fan works unplug the thermal switch on the radiator and on the wiring plug connect the pins and see if the fan comes on in both speeds. As for engine slowing down it could be the manifold leaking they do tend to get a crack between position 2 and 3. Could also be the tank vapure line damaged or has a slight leak. Could also be a vacuum line leak. Or a vacuumed difrm leaking on the egr or other boxes on the lines. Would need a vcume line tester pun and connect to a vaccine line and run engine to see if it’s fluctuating.
