I thought about one before I bought the slab, keep thinking would have been better off, as the slab costs the same to tax as the 3.2, and is only 2mpg better :'(

When I worked at a Vauxhall dealer, we used to cal them “Insignificants” if that helps as they were soulless reps cars with the appeal of a dead badger

So you would not have  one then  :y :y :y

Looking for something with a bit of room inside . . .   to replace the CDX.

Won't be doing many miles  ,  just weekend run around locally , with an occasional jaunt to the south  or east coast 3 or 4 times a year.  Only been doing 1000 /1500 miles per YEAR in the omega.

Find a nice Sri/ or something with leather, estate type, about 65-70k on it and I'll straight swap you the slab. ;D

........and they are also ugly f*uckers with a big arse.

For people who have no interest in motor cars they are fine.

The 'economical' 2.8 V6 turbo is the route I would go if buying one.

Prefer the estate to the saloon , but overall a good looking vehicle a couple of colleagues at work have them and one of them prefers it to the Jag he had previously neither have mentioned having any problems with them.

Mondeo's of the era are much better looking cars than the Insignia, but whether they are a better car I couldn't say.  :-\

I quite like mine.... it's OK.  It's comfy enough, has plenty of room, handles well and the Transit engine makes it goes quite well while achieving decent MPG.  :y

It just doesn't give me a hard on though....    ::)  :D

if the Omega is OK for another MOT without massive expense ,why not stick with that
until the Omega does need big money spending on it
you'll get peanuts for the Omega, then spend a couple of grand on a lesser car
the insurance company then rape you for changing cars
then there will be a list of niggles you want to fix on a new car.
if your doing 1500 miles a year ,then the 25 MPG isn't that bad ,don't believe the MPG on newer cars  :-X

Had one as a hire car a few years back. 1.8 not got a ot of get up and go, bit underpowered
Was well appointed model I had. Rear doors of hatch/saloon dont give a lot of headroom getting in and out

Had a hatch. For about 4 months. Upgraded to an E Class estate which was replaced by an Insignia estate. Hatch opening on the hatch isn't quite as good as it looks compared to the squared off Vectra. Estate is deceptive and boot is almost the same size as the Omegas... only ten litres shy to the window line. Also don't be fooled by the tailgate shape, it can be stacked to the back edge of the opening.

The Elite estate gives the Omega a run for it's money, especially with the V6 turbo 4x4.

A 1.8 hatch will be perfectly fine as transport, if a little uninspiring.

If you can find one, the 4x4 version is much nicer to drive well. Think Sierra 4x4 8)

Mundanos of that era are plagued with electrical niggles...   ...I'm guessing Ford learnt something from their time owning JLR ;D.

I've driven as 2010 base spec Insignificant to the South of France and back, and it was a comfortable enough journey which was mostly trouble free (it was a newish car at the time), the only incidents being an emergency change of rear pads, and the concern over a big bright flash from a silver box at the side of the road  ::).

An Omega it aint, but it can crunch miles easily.
